Hello, I have a breckwell big e built in 2007 that came with the house we bought last year. Tonight the convection fan started making a sound like it was losing a bearing or needed oil, when I heard the noise I went to check on it and saw that it wasn't feeding pellets either so I then turned the stove off and it cycled thru it's cool down until it turned off. To make sure I didn't have any
other issues with the auger
etc I wanted to try and restart the stove to troubleshoot. When I attempted to restart the stove I could not yet the convection fan to start until I finally bypassed the POF disc with a jumper. My question is I can understand the POF disc going bad but at the same time my convection blower starts to squeal a bearing? when before this I haven't had any trouble with the either. Also, it doesn't explain why it had stopped feeding pellets initially because the auger was free and now on the subsequent trials tonight it feeds the pellets fine. After being knee deep in this tonight ill be lucky if this post makes any sense but I am going crazy trying to figure this out, I guess I could have that bad luck where the POF disk and the convection fan act up in the same 10 min period.... finally what's the best source for parts like the POF disc or (I hope not) the convection fan. Also, I've heard these controls panels can act up? could that be the issue

Thanks for listening
John

Hi John, If the POF disk goes bad, should throw a code. POF disk is cheap to have on hand, around 14 bucks from Breckwell. I have had to change that twice, once on mine and once on my mothers stove...having both go bad at the same time may be coincidence. Combustion fan squeal means it's on its way out. will eventually stop. I have taken these out and oiled them but ultimately had to replace. Make sure you have a supply of combustion blower gaskets too.

Thanks big e, it's actually the convection fan squealing sounds like I should order one... I guess now Im mainly just confused as to why the POF switch is keeping the convection fan from spinning to begin with when you turn the power on, I figured it only came into the equation after the fire took and it wasn't in start up mode anymore.

Yea, good question. Maybe call Breckwell? have been good to me before. Hopefully not control board!

Put in a new POF switch and lubed the fan... it runs again but the fan is still going bad ordered a new one from eBay...man does it sound bad currently lol

I had a combustion fan growled a week! Finally gave up, good thing the temp disk flipped it off, house stunk of smoke for hours

I'm new to the forum but going by your name I hope you can help me... I have a Big E runs great on setting number 2 when I raise it up to 3 it runs for about a half hour trips off .........what can be done
