Someone from my town is selling a Harman P61-2 pellet stove. They are asking $400, which seems like a great price after my trip to the Harman dealer the other day. My question is, I can't find much information on this stove.. Harman currently sells a P61A, but not a P61-2. Everything I read online is either a P61A or just a plain P61. Any information would be appreciated. Thanks!

$400,were did they steal it from? Never seen a good name pellet stove go for under 1k. Put it in test mode to see if all the motors and fans work and bring some pellets to see if it runs. I know of a standing order for used large p series. Its cold here in MN

Pretty sure the P61-2 is the old designation for a P61 with auto ignite....which is now the P61A. My guess is the stove was made prior to 2005ish...just a guess.

Sounds like it could be a great deal if all is in working order!

Haha I don't think that it's stolen, it's currently working in their home. They are moving next weekend and want to sell it. I just wasn't sure if the P61-2 was some problem child. They said they aren't sure what year the stove is, but it's over 5 years old..

These are 2 pictures they've sent me.. Does that funky decorative plate thing come off the bottom?

Plate is easy to remove. They show it running, that's very good.

MIGHT have to leave the bolts that hold the frame on, in the ash pan door. You won't even notice em.

If that's a recent pic, u gotta snap that up fast.

BUY IT!! If you don't I will. :)

I have a p61-2. Yes, older but great stove. Some difference in the shape of the door but BUY IT!

Stay right where you are, and keep asking questions, I'm almost there to steal it out from under ya! JK, jump on it, it's worth almost that price in scrap metal for cryin' out loud!

Buy the stove. You could probably sell the decorative plate on here to someone.

I told the lady last night that I wanted to the stove, I would come get it right now. She said they were going to use it until friday when they moved out of their house... Anyway I messaged her this morning and told her I'd like to put money down on it at least to prevent someone else from buying it from now till then, she replied "Sorry its sold, someone it loading it up today".......WTF ahhhhhhhhh!!! probably one of you guys on here LOL. Looks like im back to my original plan of buying a brand new P68 with my tax refund. $400 sounded so much better than $4000 :/

That sucks. Can't stand people who do that.
You should be able to get a new P68 for WELL under $4k

Its $4018 with tax installed... list price in it is $3799, with $250 harman promotion coupon, and $200 discount from the dealer.. So the stove is roughly $3350. They are charging $250 for installation, plus around $400 in parts. I called the next closest Harman dealer (about an hour away) and they told me they couldn't do any better on that price.

Oh, installed, gotcha. Sounds like a good price then. $3350 is a great price on just the stove.

You'll love it. They absolutely crank out the heat.

Yeah, I've thought about just buying the stove and doing the install myself, to save money.. But I've never done anything like that and I want it done right, and safe.

Nope I'm starting from square one.. I have a chimney but it isn't in the location where we want the stove.

I also have to make a pad for the stove to sit on since the floor is laminate flooring right now.. would I be ok to put down some cement board, and then tile over that?

Yes on making your own hearth pad. Not very expensive and far more custom.

Do you know if just tiling over cement board would provide sufficient protection ?
