Found this behind a church and they are going to let me have all of it. Any clue what it is? There are at least 25 huge rounds. I was told it was oak.

Looks like red oak to me.

Yay for red oak! Pleasure to split and awesome to burn. Make sure it has plenty of time to dry

A year or two split, stacked and top covered will have that ole tree premo. It was dropped alive but it has been laying there a long time.

Great! Looking forward to getting it split and stacked. Thanks
If you are under the gun for next winter's wood, it may be passable if you don't split it too big, and stack it single-row in the wind.

Split em big and wait 3 years, you'll be happy then.

Put your nose up to that stuff after splitting it, and report back the pungent smell it has.... agreed, red oak
