I just installed my stove this weekend and its working well with the one bag of "trial" pellets i bought with the stove...

Thought it would be easier to find some pellets...but it seems much of SE Pennsylvania is out. Some dealers still have some, but they are open during working hours (when i have to work too)...and we have major storm on the way!

Any advice? I know ill be ready for next season, ill be buying my tons in spring/summer...

Buy before the fall. Most everyone by me is out as well.

X2. You might have to hunt hi and lo to find pellets now. Big box, garden centers, Tractor Supply and stove dealers. Good luck.

Try lumber yards. The 3 chains in my area all sell them. Sometimes you find the hidden gems there.

Also try Agway stores

I can buy Spruce Pointe all season long. Here is the catch, $7.85 a bag. $7.85 a bag if you buy one bag or one ton delivered. This is from the Ace Hardware chain. I can buy Okanagan DF pretty much year round from the stove dealer $419 a ton you pick them up. I can buy Energex ( which I have not tried yet) $6.85 a bag or $285 a ton, soft or hardwood in stock. And LG same price as Energex. So we are not out of pellets, we are out of inexpensive pellets ! Tractor Supply here is down to their last stock of the season, what is in their yard is it, they are some brand I never heard of $219 a ton of hardwoods, I don't want hard wood. We are soon headed into the shoulder season pretty soon and these are what I am stuck with around here but they exist.

Get a few bags of hardwood and try adjusting feed rates/etc with them. It'll at least give you a cheaper alternative for the shoulders. Around here, I can't even find good softwood pellets. The "best" I've seen are the North American blend or Tractor Supply's pine horse bedding.

Stock up in early fall!
I can burn about two ton per winter, and stock up just above that in the fall.
This year may be more than two ton, and I will have a hard time finding them also.

Go to http://www.woodpellets.com/ and have them deliver 3 tons of the LG or Cleanfire Pacific. End of problem. Yes its a bit more cost than others but these are high quality pellets and worth the extra cost.

They don't serve Pa. I tried a bunch of zip codes from Binghamton down to Philly, every one came back with "WoodPellets.com does NOT service your area"

Pennpellet, call a dealer and have them deliver if you can't get their during working hours...

I have a couple of test bags of each. I ran through the night last night on Lg and its burning on them now. Ver good, no complaints. energex is going in the hopper after work. So will ser how those are overnight. Both of these are not too badly priced and I have a source supply. So which ever I like best I will buy a ton of.

LG burns much like LaCrete. What I like about LaCrete is the 60 bag pallet. Perfect for my P61 but also $379 a pallet.
