to say I am seriously frustrated is an understatement. In less than 12 hrs, I have had to remove all the pellets from my hopper on my US 6041 pellet stove to remove the auger cover in order to clear up the pellet jam again. I have been plagued with this anomaly since purchasing the stove this past summer. Wouldn't you know it, when you need something to work...it fails. Anyone have any ideas as to why this is happening?

While I can't give advice on the particulars of your auger system - couple of things to think about... What type of pellets are you using? Softwood or hardwood? They look like a blend or softwoods - may want to try hardwood or just another brand. Are there a lot of fines in the bag? May want to consider sifting at least the last 1/3 of the bag prior to usage to remove fines. What setting are you using - corn or pellet? Have you tried changing that to see if it makes a difference once the auger is loaded? (auger turns constantly for pellets)Last, you could consider mixing pellets and corn since it is a multi-fuel.

Hopefully someone with experience with your stove will chime in with suggestions too....

I had the same problem when i bought my 6041, probably why previous owner sold it.
I believe my auger jam was a result of the brand of pellets.
How often does it jam and does the stove burn properly in between jams?

Hi all, once again not even running for 4 complete hours, I had to drain the system again due to the auger being jammed up with fuel. I use hardwood pellets, my setting is on Pellets. I purchase my pellets from American Wood Fibers in Marion Virginia. This is driving me insane. With this system being my primary source of heat, I must resolve this. To me, I am not an engineer, but the auger flights should be tapered or angled to the direction of the square feed hole...wouldn't you agree? Seems when they reach this pivotal area, they don't 'jump' into the square hole. GRRRRRR....this is frustrating. Should have listened to the many followers and spent my hard earned cash on a different brand...this thing is just a hunk of junk. GRRRRRR
 
Looking at the pics..you have massive fines.

Ditch those pellets, or sift out the sawdust.
 
The square drop tube isn't clogged or partially clogged is it?
I agree with maryh, looks like alot of fines in the pellets.

I read somewhere that I should spray my auger with a slick coating so that it will aide in the pellets sliding into the square hole. I will try this next. I also am going to sift the pellets and see what happens. Thanks for everyone's comments and suggestions.:)
 
i see lots of fine and the pellet length is small. Can you sift the fine, lower the feed rate and see how it goes.
Just curio, what pellets are these? They look horrible and are not holding up well under the pressure.
 
These may be overkill.. but if you've had the stove several years and it's never been cleaned, it could be built up fine dust in the auger shoot that's burned and hardened.

I just had an auger jam issue, although it was not on the same stove. It looks like you have a lot of fines pieces in there. I bought my stove used and it too had a lot of dust and fine pieces. These had become burnt while remaining inside the auger shoot, and had formed a very hard crust inside the shoot. My auger stopped turning completely. My suggestion is to remove the back cover, the auger and auger motor, and use something to clean the auger shoot out. I had to scrape the large burned chunks out with a flat head screw driver. After that, I used some steel wool to clean up the access "crust" lining the wall. Careful removing your auger.. there's most likely a gasket behind that you do not want to tear.
