Sunday Morning coffee in front of the Oslo running at 500 degrees. 10 degrees outside, toasty 73 inside. Snowed yesterday, maybe another 4 inches. This is my view out the sliders to the deck. I have three bird feeders on a cable, eye level , about 10' from the deck. There must be 25 birds on them now. Bottomed out the car, trying to run down the snow in the driveway Friday night. Never used my AAA, it worked great, 2 hours after I called they dragged the car out. I should have known, all wheel drive just won't go through 3 ft of snow. Yesterday skiing here was the best it has been in years. Besides heating the house with the wood stove, skiing is what I love doing in the winter. You guys have something you do for the winter?

I'm in the same boat, looks like you have a few more inches of snow though. My view out of the back door while drinking my coffee and relaxing in front of the stove. Just back in from plowing the snow from last night...

winter here is normally pretty mild and minimal snow....this year not so much. much colder and more snow than we have seen in years. its normally when I do a lot of my firewood cutting as there are few bugs, no leaves and not hot and humid.

So where was all the snow when I was young enough to ski in NW NJ and PA, Blue Mountain in PA a favorite. I do recall some similar winters perhaps 15 years ago, skiing at Blue Mountain PA in Christmas Eve (day before).

I've been holding back on wood fires as I need some in case of a power failure - so far not even a brief interruption - way to go JCP&L (and God).. Now I mostly have a fire in the morning to help the geo-heat-pump bring the house back up from 64 to 70. But, if the temps are in the 30s I save the wood for emergencies. I suppose I have not more than 50 to 100 hours of burn time left in my wood stack.

Come on SPRING : )

Jerry, home for me to is NWJ, but after having the weekend place in PA for years, I am very comfortable here. It's been a good ski year here. We were skiing Thanksgiving weekend. It's just a little colder up here. In the last 10 years the rain snow line has been moving north. Conditions at the north jersey and central PA mountains has not been all that good for some time. Skied powder bumps all day yesterday and will do the same today. I convinced the mountain operators to open woods skiing. First time ever it's boundary to boundary skiing. It was a huge success, kids and me ripping it up. Got to go...... skiing!!!!

Sledding ... spent yesterday and today on the trails ... very good weekend ... very tired tonight.

Tried that for the first time a week ago. My buddies have an "extra" sled I was able to use. Most fun I had in the woods in winter in years. Dangerous sport, no doubt, your parameters are trees, don't see them giving much.

With the last dumping we got the trails are now primo, great for the local businesses. There must've been 50 sleds at the local eatery yesterday afternoon.

Edit: just saw on the news there were 4 "serious" snow mobiling accidents just on Sunday in NH that they know of. Luckily none of them "life threatening" but that's a lot for one day.
