It appears like I'm going to have a decent amount of pellets that I won't be using this year. I have them stacked on a pallet in my garage, they are all in good bags(no holes). What's the best way to store them over the summer so they ate still good next fall?

Looks like you have nothing to fear with the way you have them stored now. Just be on the watch for some pellet pig getting into your stash.

I have stored pellets for over two years in my garage, they are working good this year. Glad I have extra as all the Big Box Stores ( Hudson Valley ) NY area are sold out. Only have about 7 tons left for this year and next. I like to have one year ahead on hand at all times. Yes big pellet pig LOL.

As long as they stay dry they will last a long time. I have some wood smoker pellets ( same as the heater ones just 5 times the price) that are 7 or 8 years old and they look and perform just like new. They are stored in an unheated workshop/ garage.

I dug some pellets out of a stove in dry storage and they burnt fine after ten years. Stove did fine too.

We store pellets here at the store year around inside and outside with no problems, how ever we are in New Mexico.

Agreed... you should have one year of pellets ahead. OINK! Just ask the folks who are out of pellets and the Vortex breathing down their necks next week! Yes, I have them in a shed too! In fact, I have left them OUTSIDE for TWO YEARS with the original wrapping and another tarp thrown over and secured for good measure. NO ISSUES.

Good to know. I can fit 2 tons in the closet but the other 2 tons have to be stored outside. I am glad the shed will work, as I am hoping to be ready for winter by August.

Unhealthy sprinkle of moth balls seems to keep most vermin at bay. Use that trick for storing corn.

Moth balls,yep.Don,t forget cheap dryer softener sheets.These have a natural plant chemical in them,toxic to most insects and small animals.Always throw some in camper,truck cabs and engine compartments.Also hang on screen doors in summer(however short it is!).These are what you see hikers wearing pinned to hat shirt.

Don't forget the sta-bil. The only thing worse than stale pellets is stale beer... the stale beer is much more rare though.
