Well I got all this stinky stuff split up, now comes the wait

Ended up with a hair over 1/2 cord, plus some uglies

I've been doing a little research on this tree, and it appears to be in the same family as black/honey locust and Kentucky coffeetree. Hopefully it'll burn similarly

It's got similar bark but its for sure not beech . It splits way easier, and has a different smell to it

I don't think we have yellowwood around here. FYI Apple does smell when splitting green. Smells great seasoned and burning. Doubt if your tree guy would be that far off on an ID.

Me either, but no one seems to agree with him on maple. Maybe this wasnt the maple load, or he ended up taking out a different tree after we talked on the phone

I'll bet it burns good when dry!

Some of us wouldn't mind getting a woodie ;hm. That being said, to remove the stink from your hand, simply use a rub of salt and lemon juice. If you don't have lemon juice, use baking soda with a few drops of water. If you don't have baking soda, then use vinegar but it will have its' own stink.
