If need be, and we can figure out times, I would be willing to meet you half way and give you 10 bags. You are just over 3 hours from me.

Start shutting down rooms that aren't in use. Only heat the rooms you are heating. A guest room? Keep the door closed. Nobody in the bathroom? Shut the door anyway. Closets? Keep the door closed. If you don't use the dining room often, put some plastic over the doorway. This will keep the pellet stove from trying to heat the entire house and turn the room itself into insulation for the rest of the house as the wind can no longer hit it directly. When I used to appraise houses sometimes I'd come across people who had their entire upstairs closed off with plastic. When I finished of my attic I left the door on so I could effectively shut it off from the rest of the house if I didn't want to heat it anymore.

This summer, you may want to try to do some air sealing and insulation work. You can do a lot with a $2 tube of caulk. That should keep more heat in the house for every year you own the house.

Oh, and an electric blanket is the smallest space heater of all since it only has to heat the area under the blankets where you are sleeping.

I'd only turn a regular space heater on in the room you're in. There is no sense heating rooms you aren't using.

Small plug in electric heaters in every room. About $15 at Wm.
Use them on the low setting unless you can run the high and not heat up the plug and outlet
Our Wm has lots of pellets so check area WM also see if they will do ship to store with no shipping charge on pellets for you..
I use all kinds of temporary heat for construction. Also you can turn on your Oven and open the door for a quick boost to the kitchen.

That is really good on your part. If he was anywhere near me, I would do the same. Kudos to you.

Good fortune always makes it way back.

Hats off to you, John Fortier. I had wondered earlier if there weren't any pellet pigs close to the OP who might throw him a bone.
Maybe they already have.

Thanks for the offer. let me wait a few more days to see. So far tractor supply said they should be getting them friday, no later than monday. along with another local said friday.
Supposed to be warmer the next few days so I can shut atleast the PDVC off during the day to save.
I have been turning the stove on to heat up my kitchen area.

Good Luck and the offer will stand.

I also have a ventless propane heater downstairs. I said LP but meant propane. :( So I can heat by electric, pellet, coal, wood, and propane! And I have 3 acres of oak out back that's mine and plenty more available AT NIGHT...... :)

My local Tractor Supply had a shipment coming in too. In my case I have a couple of suppliers with pellets, actually more than that ( try Ace Hardware Chain if you have one there, here thy have Spruce Pointe in stock both in the stores and in the warehouse). As to Tractor Supply it just matters to me which pellets they get in. If it's those Agri Enviro hardwoods, I want some !

This dealer says on their website that they have pellets in stock. Google says it is about 40 minutes from Cortland NY

Well I found about 10 bags of barefoots. Not going to mention price because it is making me nauseous. But beggars can't be choosers. Hopefully they will last me until I can find more at the box stores.

Conserve if need be keep your house at 62 or so. Throw on a extra layer.

Well, I have about maybe 2 more days worth of pellets left with no stock in site of me.
So with 3 kids and wife, old drafty house, pellets stoves my only heat source, what would be my alternative choices?
Keroscene heater is max of what 23,000 btu. One of those wont be enough, and those are out of stock locally.
very nervous right now

Chris, your local Walmart says that they will have stock on the 26th of this month, it also shows stock in Ithaca, NY and a few other stores but you will have to call. Our Walmart here told us today if it is in the main warehouse, they can get it in on the next truck. Good luck with this and hope it helps. Also, please be careful with electric heaters. There have been numerous fires north and south of the 49th parallel due to the severity of the extreme cold temperatures this winter.

I wish you the best of luck..warming spell coming through then cold again...I 'd throw you a some bags if u were closer..
