Feeling the Heat
Figured I would start another thread and show a quick pic. I had a pile a couple feet deep at the top of the driveway near the garage....just was shoveling the last storms snow over to clear for the wifes car.....so here is a pic or 2 of the area and machine! Cubby 3X 26 HD.jpg snow to remove.jpg

What machine did ya end up with?
I probably have to go to the old thread to find out, eh? ;lol

Initially thoughts, pros cons of said new machine?

Sorry, I thought I added what it was.....it is a Cub Cadet 3X 26" HD model. Has 3 stage and a 357cc motor. Powered thru 28-30" of a heavy wet snow shoveled area without even bogging a little! The model has a steel chute as well and power steering controlled by each grip having a lever. Very impressed!

Nice. You'll really love it when your driveway is covered with 18" of wet heavy snow.

26 is probably a good size. My 30 Ariens can be a bit to muscle around at times and was almost too much for my gf to fight with.

Who makes the motor on that? Or is it proprietary?

I've got an almost-ten-year-old Craftsman that can throw 2' of snow into the neighbor's yard. What I'D be impressed with is how far that thing can throw 2' of wet, slushy snow--that's where a machine earns its keep. My Craftsman will throw that stuff half my driveway width, which means I have to go down the middle and throw to each side instead of the normal left to right.

Good luck with it!

We're facing the decision with respect to a new snow blower, too. 3 phase? This is a perfect opportunity for you to "brag on" your new machine to a ready audience (who loathes internet "searches").

its also what your looking for. to me, it was the elimination of bending to lift snow with a shovel, that's what kills the lower back. my 70's Ariens is a good workout on the arms to muscle around, that's good. it throws the heaviest wet snow about 6-7 ft which is fine since our driveway is large enough to use with the snow moved from the center with just two cars. it throws lesser wet snow 10-20ft depending on weight. it does all the heavy lifting so I just need to clean up with the push shovel, more good leg/arm exercise.

and for $300 bucks refurbished, its a no-brainer.

I Did see a Consumer's report on blowers today. They did like the Cub 3 stage, just not the price.
