My combustion motor starting making a noise on Wednesday, and by Friday it was screaming, so I shut it down and ordered a new motor for pick up at my dealer. Replacement was easy, and took about an hour. So don't be worried to change yours if you have to. 3 nuts, 3 wire crimps, and one allen screw for the fan blade.

The fan blade screw can be a pain. If you don't have a set of individual allen wrenches to do this, then go buy a set. Don't try to use an all in one set because you can't get the leverage or depth on the screw, and will likely end up stripping it out.

The part that surprised me the most was the amount of buildup behind the blades. I brush off the blades as part of my regular cleaning. I also try to get a brush as far behind it as I can, and use a leaf blower on a regular basis.

The center part of the blade that is solid was caked full on the back side of the blade. Even after I removed the fan, the buildup was thick enough to stand by itself. It was just packed ash, but it was firm.

Anyone else ever notice it? I am going to start removing the blade with each full clean and make sure it's spotless so I have the best airflow.

Did you have any trouble getting the fan blade off the shaft ??

Hello

I Just replaced a combustion blower in an Advance the other day. I like to wire brush everything clean, wipe it down with acetone and then spray the blades front and back and the area behind the blades with "Dry Moly" Not only does it help prevent ash build up but also protects from rusting

Getting the impeller blades off can be tough. I wire brush all around the set screw then spray with PB blaster before trying to crack it loose with the allen wrench!

I didn't have a problem with the blade screw. I made sure I had the allen wrench fully inserted and gave it a good sharp turn. I wouldn't have had to replace the blade, but I did because I picked up a new one when I picked up the motor.
