I have to admit I was nervous as heck. It was a groan getting it out. Didn't notice the two bolts on the side. Well in glad I put a empty pellet bag on the lower stove coving everything. When I went up the pipe with my 25 ft fiberglass rods and 4 inch brush. There was BUCKETS of ash falling!got all that. Then the fines box was all saw dust!cleaned that with my tube attachment. Last the esp fan. Turned the 3 screws and it was caked with ash. Used the tube to get all nooks. The used a clean paint brush to clean fan. Then clean the corners. Got it back on . Then cleaned left over dust.So it slid back in perfect . So knock on wood it's runnig and going . So I pray to god i did it right:)

Nice work. While I have the stove out I typically like to run a brush down the the exhaust port where it meets the ash pan. Also Ill yank the ESP out and give that a cleaning too.

Great tip thanx. I did turn the 3 screws remove the fan.thats the esp I think?Just surprised on how much was there after a ton.I see some people say they do it after a season doing 3 or 4 tons. Not mine gtta do it every ton.

Nope the ESP is the small probe that sticks out near the sealing gasket. The 3 caphead screws is the cleanout cover for the combustion blower.

Cleanliness of the stove will do with the quality pellets you're burning. If you burn cheaper pellets that are ashier you'll have to do more frequent cleanings. If you run quality stuff it shouldn't be nearly as bad.

Got it. Esp probe installed on the side of the exhaust. Will do next time thanx!

i agree with the pellet quality theory, much less cleaning with higher quality pellets. I've only burned a few bags of the cheap ones but they are dirty. I'm just about at the one ton mark myself but have to say I had the vent cap off on the last cleaning just to see what might have collected at the T and nothing ( P61a though if that matters). Did the fines box, not much in there, a few pellets and a bit of dust. In the next cleaning or two I'll do the brush thing and see what I get. I'm not expecting what you have described though ( also 25 ft up)..

Well it was thick about 10 or 15 ft up ten it was nothing. The fines box was slammed full. I am using home depot green supreme.I just watched the DVD that came with the stove and they never mention to clean the esp.learn more here on the site.We are having a poler vortex and had to shut her down for the cleaning. The house was cold now i got her cranking :)

Was it thick all the way up to the 10-15 ft mark or just at that area ?

I get the same kind of fly ash buildup charactaristics in my liner too. If you only have a vertical run of venting the thickof itwill stick/settle at the bottom.
