Had the Building Inspector sign off. Notified Insurance co. No Extra Cost on my insurance. As said previous. More interested in the Fire Place. As my stove went in the Existing Fireplace, nothing changed.
This statement probably makes the most sense, get the paperwork in (certify install and fire inspection) and you already have the fireplace so should be all set...

Mine had no issues as long as it was inspected by the Fire Dept. and Building Inpector. No increase

I must live in the back woods. No one wanted to see my install :( ( town or fire dept )

Although the fire dept did say they could swing by for a courtesy inspection if I was concerned.

A pellet stove or multi fuel stove is considered a solid fuel appliance. Get in touch with your local building inspectors to see what the code is for your area. Insurance inspectors have their own agenda but mostly go by building inspectors.

When I installed my Magnum Countryside in my basement all my homeowners wanted was a few pictures and the info on the UL label. That was 5yrs ago, with my recent install of the Auburn on my main floor they now want to come inspect them both. The person I was contacted by assures me its nothing more than pictures and measurements, however I can't but somehow think it may be more. I will post the outcome of the visit after it happens. B

I got the building inspector out to inspect the install and he gave me a permit. Then I contacted the insurance company. They sent a person out to look at the installation and all was OK with no issues.

Ours verified that it was professionally installed. Our homeowners insurance increased $16 per year.

As they say, you don't know what you have for insurance until there is a loss... Get the paperwork in and if your HO goes up, your probably covered.
