OAK question for Harman P43

I just ordered a Harman P43 , originally I was going to go straight up through the ceiling of my home,
which would have required about 15 ft. of piping , because the manual says you must maintain a
distance of 4' from any window that opens. After reading more,the manual states that if I install
a OAK I can be just 18" from a window that opens, is that correct ? Would really prefer to install
my stove in the spot closer to the windows, and go through the wall instead of ceiling.

With the OAK, that is correct. Many times if you temporarily secure the window to keep it from opening, like with a screw, you'll be OK. If you don't have to have a local inspection, just don't open the window.

Yes, the Harman manual states that if you have an OAK the vent can be 18" from window..

it's correct. my window is 18" from the intake. even though the window is closed, I still get a smokey odor in the room whenever the stove fires up.

I have my P43 just over 24 inches from an old window. I do smell some smoke on start up but I do not mind it. Ok so the OAK I have is built right into the thimble. I used foil tape to tape it tight on the stove and thimble. Note if you use this style thimble and OAK remember to adjust it and cut film type cover out before use lol...
