I'm having problems with my auger getting clogged up. I've had the cover off every day for the past 3-4. I got behind the stove and found sawdust under the auger motor, so I ordered a new bushing.

As I'm taking the motor off tonight to get ready for the bushing, I noticed there was sawdust coming out of the top of the flange attached to the stove. But it doesn't seem quite right to me and I'm wondering if I have a bigger problem.

In the pictures you can see the gap I've stuck my screwdriver in to. And then a shot of it looking down through the hopper. That flange plate that is fixed to the stove has at least an 1/8" gap between it and the pellet hopper. Also, I thought it weird, the previous owner put RTV on those four bolts.

This can't be normal, can it? Should I hammer it back flush? What do you think?

If that's where the upper auger plate mounts to the hopper mine has RTV on the plate and the flange.I would think that needs to be flush and resealed with RTV.
