The last of this year's wood is in the house and I'll be shutting the stove down sometime tomorrow. By this weekend, it will be too warm to burn 24/7 anyway.
I'm thinking we need to celebrate tonight's fire with a glass of whiskey.
I's been a chore keeping that thing going, but it gave us one hell of a warm winter in here.

Still have just under 2 cord left but had hoped to carry at least 2 over for next year but that is not going to happen. Used 3 cord each of the last two seasons looks like about 4 1/4 this winter.

That's pretty damn good! you should be happy. #.75 cord for a whole frigid winter. Winning.
that's also 60 NIEL'S, 15 bags of pellets and 200 gals of oil.

I said goodbye to the last of my wood early this month. Now im running the hell out of the gas furnace but i don't mind a whole lot. I need a heating bill with no wood useage to give me a baseline in figuring out how much wood heat saves me anyways. I'll be a cutting fool this summer/fall cause im not running out ever again.

Sounds like a lot of people are in the same situation. I've got about 4 wheel barrow loads of wood in my stack, and maybe 4-5 24" rounds of knotted sycamore I've been slowly splitting. Maybe enough for another couple weeks. I don't really want to break into next year's wood, so I'm starting to run the heat pump when it gets into the mid 40's during the day and just using the wood burner to warm up the house in the mornings. Maybe doing that I can get another week of burning, and I'm keeping my fingers crossed late March will be warmer!

My wife told me we use 25 splits a day. Funny I never paid much attention. She uses the wood on the side porch at the cabin. When it's done she has to come home. I don't think I will have to go to the main pile before the snow melts. But at this rate you can't tell.

I have about 3 weeks of wood left. I might make it in to April. Heating during the day has almost stopped. Leaving it all for the evenings and over night burns.

That is how I figure my usage too. I use 1split per hour to heat 3200 sq ft. Tell her she is a genius just like me!

I ran out last week. I cut and stack all my parents wood and I always have a few extra cords at their place ready to go that they will never use. I am now moving that to my place half a cord at a time. Already through 4.5cords, will probably end up over 5.5 by may 1st
