My combustion blower motor gets an intermittent high pitch squeal. If I push on the end of the shaft with a gloved hand while it is running, the noise stops as long as there is pressure on the end of the shaft. As soon as the pressure is gone, the squeal starts again. It is supposed to be a sealed bearing, but I tried some white lithium spray on the end of the shaft. I don't know if it will get into the bearing at all, but is quiet as new for the time being. Has anyone else tried using this stuff for this problem. I see a few threads on this subject. I see that you should not use any type of penetrating oil or anything with a detergent in it on an electric motor. I read on another website that white lithium is ok. Any thoughts?

I remember reading somewhere also that the key is using a non-detergent high temperature stable lubricant. Dupont makes a lithium spray with teflon that apparently works well in fan and other small motor bearings - I think Ace Hardware caries it. I've also used the 3 - in - one oil made specifically for electric motors, which comes in a blue colored can, (not the multi-purpose version that comes in the red can that has naptha in it, which apparently acts like detergent oil and is bad for the bearings).

I use lubricating oil. It states on the tube "specifically formulated for circulating pumps and electric motors"

one tube lasts a long time...

What is the name of this oil Big E?

Two days later the squeal is still gone. The lithium seemed to work.
