Fellow Canadians, where are you buying your ash vacuums? I read online about the ones available from the big box stores and their terrible reviews. Any thoughts?

I'm using a plain home depot Rigid shopvac with the drywall filter. I just make sure the ashes are cold before I vacuum.

I have and use the one in the eBay listing above. It's been good so far. I also judge these things by parts availability for filters and aftermarket parts. The filters are around online and I picked up a set of stove vacuum tips etc which were like 15 bucks at Home Depot. It does a pretty competent job of containing debris and a thorough cleaning. Best of luck!

I like how HD sells filters. I ordered a $9.99 spare filter for my Powersmith just to fill out an order to qualify for free shipping. It arrived packed inside a whole new Powersmith vac. Sent them a a half dozen emails over a few months asking how to send it back but that I was keeping my filter out of it. Never heard a word and finally opened the box and used the thing last week.

What did your credit card statement say? Agrees with the right amount ?

Why don't I ever get "mistakes" like that??

Card charge was $9.99.

You lucked out,
It would go the other way for me I would have got the filter but been charged for the vacuum  and the had to spend 3 hours on the phone trying to get it straight !!

I bought my Ash Vac from Lowes for 90 dollars, the biggest thing is keeping the filter around the base of the motor clean as often as possible.

BTW,
I used my new vacuum tonight and it works VERY well, I am thoroughly impressed that a $90 vac works as well as this one. The brush/crevice tool that comes with it is priceless !!
