Agreed......striking while there is blood in the streets. For someone like me that is offsetting the cost of oil, makes no sense to me. I was lucky enough to get a ton last week at regular cost.

Our suppliers around here are still well stocked, however, if they ever tried to pull this @$%#, they would be placed in the bad books and would never get my business again.

Somersets
Heartland

Never been loyal to any brand. Whatever I can pick up for around $200.00 per ton is what I buy. Oddly enough, my house seems to stay every bit as warm (if not warmer) than those spending almost twice that amount on a ton of pellets.

1-HAMER "hot ones"
2-Energex

these are the only 2 I have burned, the Hamer's are 100% better in my stove. I would never buy Energex again if I had a choice they just burn like filthy crap !

Reminds me of the gas crises in the seventies. Prior to that people were so brand loyal that many, many wouldn't dream of putting Fina or Phillips 66 gas in their car that they always filled with Mobil or Exxon or whoever's gas. After sitting in lines for two hours every day to get ten gallons they discovered that their car didn't quit running. Or run any different with three different brands a week in it.

Brand loyalty for gasoline disappeared never to return.

Precisely my point. I've read here for years and years and am amazed by how many who have the experience of more expensive pellets being "better" or burning "hotter". I guess I'm fortunate that I've never noticed much of a difference. The only real difference that I've ever noticed from pellet to pellet is that some have a TON of sawdust (i.e. fines) in the bags. I'm almost shocked they're sold like that. That said, even some of those crappy pellets burn just fine in my stove, and don't give me any less heat.

Barefoot
Somersets (in no particular order)

However ..... I burned 10 bags of Starlite (from Lowes) and they were the hottest and cleanest burning pellet I've ever used!
I will be looking for more next winter and if the next batch is as good as the last 10 bags Starlite will be my pellet of choice.

OK bushmaster ...... what are YOUR 2 favorites?

only burned 6 bags got stove running Saturday night, bought used stove came with 8 bags infernos, picked up 10 bags maine wood pellet and 10 bags of wood pellet co.
infernos burned hot and clean, wood pellet co seems ok maybe not as hot as inferno but has thick, black, airy ash at edge of burnpot

list your favorite 2 pellets
1) Okanagan Douglas Fir- Hottest, Cleanest Pellet By Far...But $8/bag or $380/ton....Way too expensive!
2) Maine Woods Hard/Soft Blend- Hot, Clean and $255/ton....Always have these ready to go!

I burn a Quad CB1200

Marth
What's on sale when I'm shopping for pellets

Barefoots - only excellent pellet I can get. All the rest I've tried and can get are B's

Have only burned Turmans. Great heat and very little ash. Clean the stove every 3-4 days. Dealer ran out so I purchased half a ton of Lignetics. Very dark pellets compared to Turmans. And the ash Lignetic's produces is outrageous! Have to clean the stove every day to day and a half! Will never get Lignetics again!

Would like to try Turman as well. Seems like a pure oak pellet is the way to go in my area where you can't get a real good softwood.

Turman
hamer
Green way

I believe are all oak.

I also tried lignetics this winter.......tons of ash

Maybe it s because you have a Harmen !!
I agree with the fines content, but I think this happens during moving. I see dealers and other guys just picking up bags and tossing them around like its a sac of garbage.........it just makes me cringe ;sick;sick like nails on a chalk board.

In my personal experience using my temp gun, the glass is roughly 10::F hotter with Hamers than the Energex and the air blowing out is sometimes 15::F hotter or so on the same settings with both pellets, the room feel isn't really any different though. The biggest thing I observe is more filth, I can go 3 days sometimes without emptying my burn pot of ashes but I MUST empty it everyday with the Enrgex.

few month's ago my HD had greenway, there were 2 bag's left...damn!!
