Well now

it was low 60's today and very sunny.

Friday we get pooped on again with more cool and rainy weather.

The computer room with this bloody 50 inch screen is near 80f this evening, arrrrrrgh

Stove has been off since 10AM and will stay off till later tonight.

With the time warp, its a lot nicer.

Been snowing since 7 a.m. and is still snowing at 10:30 p.m. Winds are 25 to 30 mph out of the NNW gusting to 35 and at 10 degrees F. Snow is heavy and over a foot has fallen with another (possibly) on the way. The NWS has us in a winter storm warning (Vulcan) until 8 p.m. on Thursday evening. In anyone's book this is a real blizzard. No vehicles on the road (major state highway) for many hours. No plows, nada. Geez, and Spring is only 8 days away!!

YEAH BUDDY

We likely wont see any more cold here other than a tad bit of frost.

We have seen snow here as late as the 20th of March

Sticking snow is rare in March here, butttttttttttttttttttt, never say never eh.

Another cold front heading in with ran and yucky weather by Friday

Stuff another sack of pellets in the hopper.

We won't be done with the nut burners until early June normally

Hi Snowy

We have a big storm on the way tonight.
I have had stove cleaning made much easier this winter season with my 10 and 12 y/o "New to Me" Harman P61s I updated to P61a-2 stoves and vacuum cleanouts on the new Selkirk DT. :)
Just a good combo stove and venting that together is very efficient.

With the mild weather today, I burned one bag in 20 hours. Just a few days ago in the bitter cold, I was burning a bit over 2 bags a day! That is only using Harmy1 in the basement. Harmy2 in the garage/workshop has not been on much. I just use it for backup or when working in the garage/workshop. The Quad Santa Fe in the shed/workshop is going good, I go out there alot. I have 2 stoves out there I am slowly rebuilding, a Breckwell Big E and an Enviro EF-3. Not that much time for these right now with all the service calls but I use them as filler work.

Yesterday was 56, today so far is 28. 30MPH winds but no snow yet. It rained overnight, they say we might get an inch of snow. Cold tonight in the teens and windy, up to 40 MPH gusts. But then the weekend warms back at least into the 30's. The dead of winter is over here, we may get a little snow, a cold night or day, windy days for sure. But hey, the Crocus blossomed out along my foundation !

Just came in from my third clearing. About 20" (plus) of "white gold" (per Jim Cantore). He can have it!! 3-4' drifts and wind blowing hard. Nice to take a break and come in to a chugging stove.
WARNING: make sure your vents are clear

We don't often see spring here. I think I saw it fly by yesterday. High of 53 yesterday, low of 15 this morning and getting even colder tonight (11). The wind makes it worse. The noise of it woke me several times last night.
I forgot to set the MVAE back to manual and high flame last night, so it's a bit nippy here this morning (67). Nothing burning a few pellets won't fix.

Came and GONE!!!!

The old Whit 2 T will last forever. These things are one tough stove.

Running our stoves on the shells required a bit of experimenting, so to keep from overheating, we only run them on #1 setting.

The shells are small pieces, and burn fairly quick.
This is sort of like stoking with kindling ya know.

So we just turn on a second stove when one is not enough.

Having a Ranch style home makes it tougher to heat anyway, being so spread out.

As I mentioned previously, yesterday here in the computer room it was 80 F and that was with all the stoves off.

Rain tonight/tomorrow, and then a bit more come next week some time.

I can't imagine having the bitter cold and huge snows this late.

Maybe it's global cooling or ????

Don

Glad to see your staying busy.

I have been watching used stoves on craigs list here, and the prices went off into the ozones.

Used stuff were available cheap, but not any more.

When I bought our Whits, they cost me $200 each, and the Prodigy came with the hearth pad too :);)

There was an older Advantage for sale week or so ago on craigs, says "does not work, needs parts, some rust, few dents" This think looked like 10 miles of bad road, and maybe like it had been drug behind the truck. One glass pane was broken as well.

The clown was asking $1000

UHHHHHGH, NOT EVEN.

I would not have offered him more than $20 as this was real POS

I am always looking for another Whit or two as spares.

Most people around here bought them as a novelty for ambiance, and not serious heating appliances.

My daughter and her hubby are planning on a new house here in a couple years, and she asked me the other day "How many pellet stoves do we need" to heat it ???? :)

I responded, "one in every corner" haaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa

Can't have too many ya know.

We are in the Shoulder season now, and our little whit really shines during this time of year.

Just enough heat to keep the shack warm but not too much.

We will be doing it this way until summer probably.

Can't rule out having to fire the 2T again, but if we do, it will be a short run.

Ahhhh yess, SPRING ;lol

Snowy

Not here, just received 1 ft of wet heavy snow.

Went to 48 today and sunny. The snow banks are running down the driveway. Got to throw some arrows this morning. Going to attempt to get into big shed to see in the chargers are still trickling the batteries on cycles. If not going to be expensive start to spring riding season. So many huge pot holes wont be safe to ride anywhere for a while. Cyclist was thrown from bike the other night and died when he hit a pot hole on the freeway.

Ya life as we know it on earth can end quick. Best to have the other part ready. We had a bike crash right here in front of our house a few years ago. A rice rocket coming up the road from the intersection down the street, a Harley went to pass him but the rice rocket guy decided to turn left into the ice cream stand diagonally across the street from us. The Harley guy winged the other bike which went down with a guy and girl on it. But the Harley went across the street through a street sign. The fire station is down the street from my house about 2 miles, they were here quick. I gave it ten minutes or so, a young guy was walking around picking up plastic pieces to his bike, he had a busted arm. The girl was all bloody, they had her on a stretcher already and trying to get the guy settled down to haul him away. I think he was in some kind of shock cause the arm didn't seem to bother him dangling at his side like that. The Harley guy was done. They had him laying there in his underpants. He was in the ditch just past the ice cream stand just there on his back, they hadn't covered him yet.

A friend of mine bought a bike. Young and nutty at the time, had crashed a couple of cars. I said Steve you will kill yourself on that thing. He said so be it. And it was, he left the road and a telephone pole cleaned him off the bike. He didn't make a turn in the road after passing his dad and brother in a pickup truck. He caught a banking so the bike was leaning into the pole when he hit it. I got to help carry that casket.

I have more stories like this but that's enough to get the picture. I don't ride motor cycles as much as I like the machinery of them and all. Nope.
