I had a Jotul dealer, the other day, tell me they are made in Norway. But I had another Jotul dealer, 6 years ago, tell me they are made in USA.

The way I understood it ... built in Norway and shipped to Maine Where they put the finishing touches on it for the American marketplace.

In part, it depends on the model of the stove. Last I knew all of the F600's were built in Norway and shipped to the US, for example. Many other models are built entirely - not just finishing touches - in Gorham, Maine at Jotul North America's factory.

I think that only the steel stoves (F50, F55) are made in Gorham.

Correct, and the F45. I think the inserts are also made in Maine. The freestanding cast stoves are made in Norway.

Off topic, but your avatar looks like a Portland Stove Foundry door. An Atlantic?

Good eye. It's a beautiful example of the iron caster's art, but it's difficult to keep the cement in the seams when burning it as hard as I did this year. I have it in the basement of the rental I'm in at the moment and it's asking too much of it. It has, however, kept me off the electric heat and would keep the pipes from freezing in a blackout. I'm moving this spring and don't need it anymore. Interested?

I grew up with one of these and its bigger brother. Nice stove for their time. Let me check with a family member, as I know their stove has some issues. I'll send you a PM either way.
