I was calling around for Fuel Oil prices, and one company was the one we used our first year (had not talked to them since). We talked of how much we would burn in a given year....I told them that we burn between 150 to maybe 250 gallons a year....they told me that in 2007, when we had a contract with them, we burned 1,200 gallons that year......I did not realize the savings was that great....this stove has paid for itself without a doubt:cool:

I have a summer winter boiler that is very efficient with a tempering tank. I used 100 gallons last year with heat and domestic hot water. Burned $600 in pellets and the house is a wife pleasing 75 most of the time. Like saving $$$ too:)

I've used 200 gal since November 5. I have 100 in the tank now which I figure will last till next November.

Congratulations. This is especially satisfying in a cold weather year.

I knew we were saving $$, but didn't realize it was that much cause....well, you know, $$ saved in one place, goes to another:(

One oil company tried to penalize me because I didn't use enough oil. I switched to another company, they kept coming out every time the price of oil spiked, no matter what I had used. Whenever the price went down (rarely), they would wait it out until I called them to complain.
Eventually I ditched the whole mess and got a heat pump as a back up for the wood.:)

We have whittled our oil consumption down from 1750 galls 3 years ago to 525 last year.
This year we are now at just under 500 galls but have had a much colder winter.

This year, our pellet use went from 3.5 tons to 4 tons and our chord wood from 1 chord to 3.5 chord.
Its a great feeling when all the insulation projects and stove installations show a real reduction in oil consumed.

I used to burn 1350 gals of HHO a year for heat and DHW. Finally scrapped the bastid in May 2012. :)

Now I just have the fill pipe cap as a memento.

Mine left my basement in the summer of 2012. The oil tank waited until a year later.

Feels some good now.
