Combustion blower seized up on my Accentra insert . After searching around for a new one I decided to pull it out and take a look. It is serviceable. so don't consider it dead. There are two bearings 608s that were very dry. After some pb blaster and some oil, the bearings are spinning free. Its hard to find such a bearing on the weekend so back into the stove they went. Fired right up. Until I get the new bearings the old ones are doing fine for now.Im back in business. Hope this helps someone that may run into the same problem. ps Using that oil burner last night made me realize how much I enjoy my stove.

Great, I'm sure this will help. Will you describe the effects of the fire you were seeing when the combustion blower seized up?
Slowly went dark, lazy flame. Quit feeding pellets, put itself out. I suggest having 2 608s bearings for back up JUST IN CASE. Cheap fast fix.

If you get desperate on a weekend, skateboard bearings will work(not long)Also 608's are used in routers and power saws, but a lot of places sell cheap ones instead of good ones.Looks like more snow headed your way!Bob.

I got some 608 bearings at NAPA as well as another auto supply. NGK or Timken. Might not be the seal type needed though. They come several ways.

Wow. I just got a new one to replace mine that was starting to make some noise . Think I'll take a look at it now. Always have a spare.

Just like Dorothy, I had tons of them right there on my feet. Son and I have been playing roller hockey for some time. Over his( had to have the best everything) hockey career we have acquired many expensive abec 7 roller blade bearings that should work just fine. Thanks bob b

Hate to burst your bubble, most skate bearings have oil in them(for low resistance, speed)you need greased ones. But skate ones will work for a while.

Thanks Bob, all this info is always good to know. They will get me through this winter and the replacements are at work on monday.

The papst motor is far superior in being designed for longevity IMO. Nice that it can be monitored too. Its in Hestia , Bixby and the Ecoteck.

Sure it would be. But that wasn't the reason for my post. If you don't have a spare, and you are in a bind, cleaning and oiling the bearings will get you up and running. Or rollerblade bearings will fit .Or if you don't have two three days to wait for a replacement.. It took 30 minutes to get it taken apart and back together and I have never done it before. As for reliable. The stove is an 08 and its the first part I've had ANY problem with.

Good to hear that you got past 5 years without any mechanical issues. Probably due for door gaskets and maybe replacing a pot switch or two for wear. About on track like a good car.

Nice to have bearings and not bushings...

Gaskets have been addressed. They are part of my yearly maintenance .Simple TANKS. Use, not abuse.
