To the op...post an ad on craigslist in firewood about that guy..his name..number and how he cheated you..and for people to avoid him...maybe at least you can help someone else out.....

I agree with this. I was cheated on firewood last summer by a guy who advertised on Craigslist. I posted ads every few days on Craigslist warning people to avoid him. After a while, I noticed other people were also posting warnings to avoid him. Then for several months he stopped posting ads. My hope is that our constant warnings about his service negatively affected his business. He's back posting ads now, I may repost my warning ads for him. All of these ads are his.

Waiting for a reply from weights and measures, looks like they are not interested. This has taught me to scrounge more!

Unfortunately, here in CT is not any better. A majority of the firewood dealers deliver multiple chords by truck with a roll on dumpster. It is filled by a loader, so you know that you are going to pay for some "air chords". When you ask how much is in there, they always answer, "about xamount of chords". Last fall, I bought "about 6 chords" for $900. After it was stacked and measured, it was 4.2 chords. So, you don't reward bad performance with another contract. I will find a new dealer this fall. I think that the best thing to do is to have 1 chord delivered. Stack it, and then decide whether to order another. If you're not happy with it, get another dealer.
