Got a first hand look at the new winner! at the Home and Life show in Hanover NH

Good looking stove.
Good intro price.
easy access front loader fold down andirons!
And more!
Adjustable legs

She isn't photogenic but in person she's a good looker!

Thinking hard about splurging on one. So wish I could see one in person. You are very lucky.

Yes I was today. At the intro price I don't think you could go wrong. I think they will be like Harleys you can customize as you burn-LOL
The design was based on function and turns out its unique and good looking. With a splash of soapstone hidden in the legs.

I think it will be a good stove. most things I don't like to be on the bleeding edge. With the customer satisfaction from Wood stock I think you will be fine. My family has 3 or 4 soapstone Woodstocks. They love them. I figure if they can build performers from stone, Steel will be a breeze for them.

This was my belief too. $2200 worth of belief !
Not bad..try 3200 for a BKK...but I would do it over again.
Hope it works out well for you. Cheers!

In all my reading on here, I have yet to find a BK owner that says otherwise.

If I could get a KING with a 6" flue collar from the factory, I would already have it on order.

When I questioned Woodstock about what makes the hybrid so great, they game me a simple answer. Cat stoves like low/ medium burns and non cat stoves like medium/ high burns. Together you have the best of both worlds operating within each owns operating temps. The cat lights off at 500 F and the secondaries around 1-1100 F. So I would light off the cat and smolder it.

I priced a BK Princess from a local dealer too. It wasn't a price based choice. I don't want to deal with middlemen dealers on warranty items.

Sounds simple ..problem is the secondary air in the tubes is always on so it will shorten the burn more then a cat only stove will. That said I have only heard good things about the stove.

I thought I read some of the beta testers have been able to turn it down so its cat only and get longer burns albeit at a lower temp.

I dunno..I have seen some say bout 10-12 hours at the lowest burn, maybe it was more.
To me it only stands to reason that the tubes will be supplying more air then needed..i could be wrong though..just ask my wife..lol.
I would have thought the secondary's would fire eventually no matter what with that extra air.

There is a thread with pics of a low 20+ hour burn by one of the stove beta testers. If I remembered where it was I'd post a link here. I have no idea about the secondaries burning or not? I do remember reading from the beta users that the IS is a much more controllable stove vs the Progress Hybrid. This was supposed to be most noticeable down on the low burn end.

I read that too, I was going to get the PH but I like the reports of better control with the IS and the top end is close to the PH, close enough for what I need. We''ll find out soon how the IS does in shoulder season.

If the stove can do that it should be a hit.

So I'm easily pleased, so long as this stove fulfills the hype. Otherwise there is the 6 month guarantee. But if had to put money on it(which I did) I'd guess it'll live up to all the claims.

What I am hoping for is a 10-12 hour burn using the same amount of wood that my Quad 4300 is using. The larger firebox is great, but if it ends up just requiring more wood then I'm no better off. Mine is a 2.4 cuft box.

For people somewhat local who can pick up or have a small shipping cost it's a GREAT buy. A loaded stove with all the bells and whistles shipped out west it's not such an easy choice as it puts it inline with other nice stoves. Regardless it's sure to be a great seller.

I can't wait to hear field results once the production stoves are in houses next fall.

I thought going from a 2 cu/ft firebox to the IS 3.2 cu/ft I would be about even with wood consumption but I actually find I am using noticeably less because of the increased burn times. I need a full season or two to figure out how much less but I know I am making fewer trips into my basement to being it in.

Before you depend on 20-30 hour cat burns, be sure and read the manufacturer's specs for the stove. The woodstocks don't do low and slow really well, they do everything else very well. Hybrid tech is not the best of both worlds, far from it.

Damn, now I want to install a second stove!

I sure wouldn't count on 20 hour burns either. The one long test burn I saw was done with oak blocks packed tight in stove. That's not representative of real world burning. That said, it's entirely possible that 20 hour burns are doable. I can do 20 hours pretty easy with my PH, but I do seem to be in the minority on that. I also find burns over 12 hours really mess with my schedule. What you can count on is you should have no problem at all meeting WS specs. They are very conservative with burn times.

If I achieve 10-12 hour burns I will be very satisfied. I have no need to smolder on low-low for 20-30+ hours. 10 1/2 hour puts me to and from work most any day. Plus the front loading door is easier if my Dad comes by to reload my stove, in the event I work a double shift.
Also I'm insulating the basement and gonna begin finishing all the area around the wood stove. So in the grand scheme this stove is very low cost.
I really look forward to this next burning season with my new IS
