Over here in WNY we had the coldest winter since 78' With that said, if I finish off what I have in the garage, I will have burned 12 face cords. Has everyone else burned more this year? Curious to know what parts of the country other than Alaska burned the most.... :)

I usually burn about 5 cords, but went through 7 cords. Definetly wasn't expecting it, so it completely wiped me out. I already have next years wood together, but I'll probably cut another 2 cords to be safe!

9 full cords since october. I planned for 10.. first whole winter with the boiler.

love it!

Neighbor with a OWB said '12 or 14.. but it's been hard to keep track' and his house is smaller than mine.

In the bullseye again with a foot of snow and temps in the teens Monday AM. Probably gonna push 4 cords, no idea as I'm pulling stuff from everywhere. Had a standing dead red oak fall, I was on it's top like Bear Grylls on a giant caterpillar.

Hey Osage, apparently we could get more snow next week! I think someone moved Virginia to another climate region.....

Was planning on burning 3.5 to 4 cord of wood, and will end up burning about 4.5 full cord.

Gotta go with the flow and be prepared.

Yep. 30 years here and ain't seen one like this. I can think of three or four records for all record keeping time we have broken already. Including lowest temps, lowest high temps and now the biggest snowfall in March since they started keeping records. And the fat lady ain't singing yet.

I am squeezing the annual three cords so hard it is squeaking.

Prime Minister Stephen Harper just announced we've been annexed. Virginia is now a province of Canada.

"Ya'll are now Canadians, eh."

With two stoves I'm really sure I'll top out at 7 cords. My mind is blown. Been out with a tape measure twice to make sure I'm not dreaming up that number.

That's what happened to me, soundchasm. I have two stoves, but usually I only fire up the second if temps dip below 20 degrees. So in the dead of winter, it's usually going, and then I don't need it. However, this year it's practically been going for months because the temps were so low. This is why I burnt up about another 2 cords!

I nearly doubled last years use so far, and I am about to burn my last few pieces. Just called the oil company to deliver 250 gallons tomorrow. Hated doing it but some of the days this year stove just couldn't keep up so burned a lot more oil than normal. But with oil over $900 for 250 gallons, I am going to be buying some wood and compressed wood as well to get me through next year. By then I should be able to replenish my wood supply.

Really hate seeing the woodshed empty.

I am just the opposite of everyone, always have 5-7 cord ready to burn every year, last year used 5 cord [shop and house]. This year we are at 3 cord for both, the shop has a barrel stove. Colder here and more snow than last year.

Of course it depends upon the next month to get a total but I don't think we'll be much above what we burned last winter.

I'll probably end up right at 4 cords this season. A little more than usual. The thing is one can only put so much wood through a stove in any given time. The real difference was the amount of propane that the furnace burned. I will probably burn a little bit of next year's wood if it doesn't start warming up soon. I have the reserve, but if next year is as cold I may be burning some questionable wood in March and April.

I'm now 1/3 of the way through next year's supply. Isn't Spring supposed to be arriving soon???:mad:

What would we do with Virginia? OK, add in Hawaii and we'll trade you Virginia & Hawaii for Quebec. ;lol

Still a sore subject. Not ready to talk about it yet. Lets just say it was bad enough that I'm selling central boiler, and revamping my whole system.

I will use 4 cords till its all said and done. The good news is my cord of oak I was saving for next year is still in tact. Burning skids helped. I've already filled the stack back up. This year I am going to get atleast 2 years ahead. I'm hoping for 3.

I generally use 5, Probably end up at a little more than 6.

I can't figure out why I haven't burned more this year. I am almost exactly at the same amount as this time last year at a bit over 3 cord. I finished a bit over 3.5 cord last year so I'm about right on pace.
