Feeling the Heat

Good Morning

Have a second place to heat and was looking at a few options.

First is a
Quadra Fire Santa Fe
10 Years old looks like it is new, Apparently a well maintained stove with little use.

Second is a Castle Serenity
New in the box.

The situation is that the price is within a few dollars of each other. Love the looks of the Santa Fe Like the fact that the Serenity is brand new.

Anyone have any thoughts on this as to which one you would buy.

The Serenity is hopefully a improved version of the Castle that had a hard to clean exhaust path. The Quad is a simple stove. Not a very powerful room fan and not a true OAK. I see a couple around MN for well under a grand and more stoves coming up on CL now. A Accentra in central WI that's been gone thru by a dealer for $1700. Even an ugly P38 for 950

Thanks for the quick reply.
The P 38 I saw.. Looks like it was stored under a rain downspout. Might be a diamond in the rough but not for me.
I like Simple, seems like when it's time to fix it is more affordable. and in this case it is to be used as much for ambiance as a heating source.
The Serenity is 999 on the Castle web site and it is within driving distance for me. The Quad is also within driving distance and he's at 950. FIRM

I know which one i would buy ;)

Time is on your side now. The p38 is way out on something that looks like it was a curbside pickup. Probably had been a basement dweller. Looking at least 3 hard hours of cleaning, painting and gasket replacement.

Looks can be deceiving however I suspect that with the amount of moisture that this has been subjected to will mean premature motor , electronics failure etc. Just one bad push on connector can mean hours of troubleshooting.

This is the picture of the Harman that is for sale for ONLY 950. and only been used for a couple of years......

The door style I think is several years old. I have seen several basement dwellers with lower cabinet issues. The picture has several other clues as to where it's been.
