Grundfoss alpha pump question

Did you try plugging it back into the original receptacle and does it work there now?
If so, the power supply coming into the house probably suffered some kind of a momentary "event" that caused the Alpha to lock out.

Our experience with both the Grunts and the Wilo's has been fantastic. We have a lot of them in use and not a single failure other than an occasional power related lock out like you describe. (knock on wood)

Sounds to me like an intermittently open connection in the line from the receptacle to the motor connection from the description in your first post.

I have several alpha pumps set up on switching relays and they power down completely . I was wondering if it would have some effect on th pumps with the cycleing and so far they seem to be doing fine . I have alway had less than desirable power that have an effect on some of my printers and digital readouts that reset . I just had an event with my therm guard and it reset itself back to the default programing and that seems to be what happens to most items . I am not sure I would have went out and got a 15 -58 the alpha is a good pump and you very well could have gotten one that just took a crap on you . Have you contacted Grundfos ? Even if its out of warranty they may be interested and have some answers for you .

Best of luck. I feel for you. It figures that I was out of town one time when we had an extraordinarily cold spell right after I had run some new plumbing. One of the pipes froze and burst the day after I left. Fortunately (after my wife realized the world hadn't completely come to an end) her father was able to come over and fix things up. It will all turn out alright in the end.

I'd be really interested in finding out what went wrong with that pump. To date, (knock on wood) we have not had a single failure with any of our Wilo or Grundfos VS pumps. We have them running in all sizes from the 15-55 like you have Huff all the way up to models cranking 50-70gpm. One that I can think of, a Wilo 1.25x3-25, locked out for an unknown reason a couple years ago and after resetting, continues to run to this day.
Your Grunt has a 3 year warranty I believe. I would return it to where ever you bought it or send it directly back to Grundfos and see what happens. Even if it is out of warranty.
Your system is pressurized as I recall correct?
