Feeling the Heat
The last few times the stove has not lit on its own.....got 6 years out of the original ignitor and hopefully more. This is a post for 2 reasons....I decided to pull off the front plate where the ignitor is like I always do and usually just use my finger to pull any debri out from the front. Since the stove was not lighting I decided I would use my compressor and lightly blow off the ignitor and the area around the ignitor. (good to have the stove on test to help pull dust thru the chimney and not into your house).

Second part got me to thinking, people have been talking about how fast the glass gets dirty.....I also blew air into the airwash chambers and, man, a lot of ash and dirt blew out of the front. Not sure if this will make a difference.....will try it out tonight when the temps cool down.....and with the cold air coming back will have a chance to see if the glass stays cleaner longer then a week.

stay tuned! LOL

I eagerly await the followup on this one. My glass is clean for maybe 25 minutes.

Well, wife just walked in and said I'm cold! So hit the thermostat and it fired up and lit faster then it has in awhile.....test one confirmed!

Only burned for 3 hours last night to take the chill off downstairs. Will post pics of clean at startup then after another 3 hours later today. And finally when the bag of pellets is done. After 3 hours was just a very light haze hardly noticeable.

What pellets are you burning?
I am burning Fireside ultra as I did last year. Last year no sooty glass issues except the basic half shaped heart on the right side.

This year the glass was getting sooty after a day all around the top and would clean off with a paper towel but annoying. Those pellets had a date of 10/13. Then I changed to pellets that had a date of 12/13 and the issue went away.

here is a pic right after the cleaning, will do another in a few more hours showing the stove after 10 hours. Hope the pic turns out okay.......

Here is 20 hours and a bag of pellets. Took a different angle. You can see the ash forming but not bad......how does this compare with others for similar time and look??????
