My travels are taking me next to The Sportsman Show this coming Friday March 28- Sunday March 30 in Anchorage. Always good to meet fellow Hearth.com members...so stop by the booth for Alaska Fireplace & Accessories... time it right and we can even have a drink on BK!

Wish I could take you up on attending the show/drink. After this winter in New England a visit even to Alaska sounds good.
BK is not as popular out here which is a shame, great stoves.

While in Alaska maybe you can catch up with Otto Kilcher (http://www.discovery.com/tv-shows/alaska-the-last-frontier/bios/otto-kilcher.htm) I noticed he is burning a KE/KEJ. He has an interesting chimney as well.

The Kilchner homestead is just outside Homer Alaska. In fact, a super restaurant called "the Homestead" is near their property. I have seen their place when I fished Katchemak Bay.

His stove is a KT, non catalytic model we made between 1977-1983.

My dealer in Homer says they are well known in the community.

It's about a 5 hour drive from Anchorage to Homer....but it is a gorgeous drive!
 
I'm down in Kodiak and just picked up a True North 19. While the price was right I really envy the blaze king owners on their long burns that don't heat you out of the house. We have very mild weather here. My next stove will be the princess....It'll come with a new house or a good deal on the princess.

Unfortunately when I bought my first stove everyone on island said 'don't get a cat, they plug up' I suspect they aren't burning good wood. Only spruce here.
 
There are quite a few BK's on the island....probably not as many as there are bears, but still plenty.

SBS sells plenty each year.

In fact, our dealer on Prince of Wales Island sells a few and they get huge amounts of rainfall each year.

If you make it to Anc. stop by the display.

I'm even farther south enjoying the marine climate of the pacific and burn every kind of native wood, so spruce, red cedar, willow, red alder, cypress, pine, etc. whatever. There is no bad wood only bad seasoning technique. You need to burn dry wood. Dry wood of any species works equally well to not plug the BK cat.

We are still burning every night and will continue burning until mid june or so.

I'm trying to weasel my way off the the north slope oil field for this weekend as I type this. Helping build a 1500' bridge over the colville river so ConocoPhillips can tap into the npra.(bout time) Love my king, my friends are tired of hearing about it I'm sure. Will definitely check your booth out if I make it outta here.
