I agree - run, don't walk, away, after getting your refund.

Totally Agree. Cancel. Find another reputable dealer. My Dealer only Services what he sells. You already don't trust them.

Hello

I would pick up the stove and bring it home. Then get a qualified independent pellet stove installer to install it. Problem resolved!

Don you seem like a nice guy. I got this 15 year old car that is in mint condition that I am selling if your are interested. It doesn't start and has a few rust spots no larger than a football but other than that its a great car. Oh yeah the brakes may need some work. PM me if interested. :)

Where is "Kaboom" on this thread ? Wonder how he made out..

He's gone missing. Oh, how I hate that expression! I cringe every time I hear some presumably competent news person use it.

Agreed - more dilution of our culture.
Wonder how the OP is making out...

It's been three days and no answer! Not very neighborly of him!

Sorry guys. Life is hectic. Not a ton of down time to post.

I'm amazed at the almost unanimity in this thread. Come on. This is the internet. Someone has to disagree.;) I guess I'll be the dissenting voice. I tend to give people the benefit of the doubt, to my own detriment. I checked over the receipt again. It's hand written and hard to read. What I thought was sales tax was the price of a ton of pellets. Actually, no tax was added at all. So they either figured that in to all the pricing already, or forgot about it. I'm thinking forgot.

Since I feel like I got a reasonable deal, they have a good reputation, and the screw-ups are not intentional, I've decided to give them another chance. I should have a shiny new stove on Monday. It really seems like the problems are from this being a small family business and not enough communication between family members, not malice. And it works in their favor that I didn't like the other local dealer all that much either. Incompetence is par for the course in every business I've dealt with in this area and stove dealers have not turned out to be an exception. So come Monday I should either have pics to share or a rant about what I'm going to do to this place.

Your handle might describe your eventual blowing up about your choice of who to get in bed with in business. I'd cancel. If anyone in business flushes their rep with such disregard, it's got to make you wonder-- who'd want to rely on them for service/parts/trouble calls, etc.

Go to the mirror and repeat after me: "fool me twice, shame on me"

Good luck

Kaboom: Hope everything works out for you. Just curious though. When 35+ folks reply to your request for direction.....basically all gave the same advise, and you decide to go a different direction. Seems like a big waste of everyones time?

Maybe a trip to service chemical and make your own boom after the proper permits of course.

Good luck, Kaboom! I think we have a pool going here on how soon you come back asking about how to fix your stove! ;)
Seriously, if you DO have problems, by all means come back here and ask. In any case, we want to see pictures of your brand new stove.

Kaboom, thanks for the update. Keep us posted with a picture.

Kaboom- Since you are the only one that has interacted with these people face to face, you gotta go with your gut. I really hope it works out. It's a great stove you picked so that's half the battle there.

Kaboom, I'm with newt lover. You came to the forum looking for advice, which you received a plenty. All from strangers who MAY be quick to criticize BUT at the end of the day you are the one speaking with the dealer face to face. Kudos to you for doing your own thinking. YOU DID NOT WASTE OUR TIME!!! Good luck and keep us posted.

Sorry, I meant "NEWF LOVER".

Well, if lack of warranty coverage is an issue (and it seems to be quite possible) I'd suggest cruising Craig's List for a used stove. The large savings could be used to stock spare parts or repair what's wrong with the used stove. Probably just a good cleaning will get a lot of those "broken" stoves running, and the savings would be considerable over new.

cannt add anything everything has been said! I would cancel and find a better person to deal with ! Mine Harman Dealer is the best let me know when they were coming had two follow up calls to make sure we would be Home six months after the install called to ask how things were going he has my business and i tell all about how good they have been !

It's picture or rant time...

Currently listening to the tinkle, tinkle, and huffing paint fumes.

Glad to see they followed through.:) Open some of those windows to dissipate those fumes
