Ya they suck. Insurance adjuster comes tomorrow. It's going to be about two weeks till we have a working front entry. The wife ordered some door she liked rather than a stocked item. . Meanwhile I have the old one nailed shut.

Anyway, been raining here. Its 50 today. The daffodils are showing green shoots all over town. It won't be long now.
 
Horse was just getting to nose around something brown and now another blizzard warning for tommorow with up to 12 inches. Had an appointment to give blood Tuesday morning, both Red Cross and CPA. If the snow is right will be around 6 feet for the season:(

I got that back when my father passed and intended to pass it on to one of my kids when I go. Laptops and stuff you can replace, that clock can not be replaced even though it's monetary value is low.

My wife's new laptop gone, all her jewelry gone, went through all our closets and pantry etc, dumped everything on the floor. I got called home when my wife walked into the mess about noon time. My digital piano was still here and the Harmon chugging away. The police thought it was kind of hot in the living room !!

damn, that really sucks - thieves are unwelcome scum

happened to my parents in the 90's, slimy thieves broke in the front door and stole my Dad's WWII rifles(Patton's 3rd.), bringbacks from Germany and my Mom's jewelry she had since a youngster. The other stuff they took(TV,etc.) did'nt matter compared to the personal things

stuff like that has no price, it's irreplaceable -


I've gotten broken into a few times and lost some treasured(by me) stuff from my parents but since I fenced my property and got 4 germ. sheps. I have'nt locked my door since :)

Amazing what a couple hundred pounds of canines can influence. Locking doors around where I live is pretty futile. Sure put the meandrings of the local tax appraiser on a short leash.

Most people don't even know this house is here, in 35 years we have never had something like this happen. This robbery doesn't add up in some ways. Out of the pantry they stole a lousy box of gluten free Cheerios. A pantry full of decent foods and canned soups etc. Gluten free cheerios and why not the Rice Chex ?:p Odd must be some kid or kids. The clock they stole has a plaque inside with my name on it. They did not touch my pair of Nine mm pistols or the wife's 22 pistol. i have digital SLR cameras left over from my business, a studio full of lights etc, not touched. just odd, well anyway the wife didn't walk in on them and get hurt at least, it could be worse.

BAck when I lived where it was easy pickings I thought the local Chief told me the chance of being hit again goes through the roof. Often times the perp is someone you know.:( I know that isn't an easy thing to hear. I moved as I didn't get along with the local so called city manager-building administrator and wouldn't allow me to expand. Year after I moved he was fired, after the city got a real manager and found he had been downloading child porn on city computer. His wife was a school superintendent.

The police told us it was unlikely to get hit again, the MO fits some local break ins except this house is occupied vs being someones house who winters in Florida. On the other hand I find the gluten free cheerios very strange cause I know someone who would want them and has a drug problem most recently.
 
No one ever accused most criminals of being smart. Most crimes being opportunistic in nature. Only reason I subscribed to one magazine as they had a dumb crook column. My county had a rash of over ten break ins before my move here and the duo was storing their booty in a abandoned barn and was discovered by couple on a horseback ride and reported to Sheriff. Just had to wait for the idiots to show up. Their biggest hit was the local hardware store stealing power tools. The problem we have here now is if someone is known to be sick and in the hospital they get burgled.

Actually the police said the same thing. They aren't usually very bright or something to that effect.

Sorry to hear of your troubles alternativeheat. You are right, it could have been much worse. Hope you gave that info to the police... who knows your schedule? When I was young, our house was broken into. Turns out that a brother's friend made mention of our being away in the presence of someone who took advantage. Caught the kids but some things were lost forever and others were found ruined in a field:( Sense of security shot to hell...

As Bioburner mentioned, storm warning for our area appears to be reasonably accurate - timing, high winds, snow - now just have to see how accurate accumulation is;hm

Ya the wife is reporting it to the officer in charge as soon as she gets a call back from him.

spitting snow here today its about 33 out and real windy.
 
Good idea to provide as much info to the police as you can and hope it means recovery of your clock at least.... Neighbor had his place broken into with only a good amount of cash gone - guns, computers, etc left untouched. Figured out who but proving it can be difficult. This guy fled down East but I think the information was shared with authorities in his new area...
 
Took the dog for her walk - about 6" in the yard and still snowing and blowing steady. Kubota plugged in to warm up and out I go to at least do a first pass. Secondary highway not done yet ...
 
Had a blizzard here yesterday but its almost gone already. 8 inches of wet heavy snow yesterday. lots of trees down. About 4 on my lot alone. Warm and sunny right now.

I never realized what a warm feeling that clock provided till comparing it to the cold empty spot there now. I don't have a ton of keepsakes from my mother. That was a special one because additionally I built it for her. But hey by comparison a coworkers daughter took her own life recently. He is so so heart broken, as a fellow human being you can feel his grief just being bear him to a certain extent. His pain is rating him up.

Yuck, no snow on the ground here yet.
 
Photo just taken from my back window... Can you tell I cleared the drive?:( 6" cleared down to hardpack, how many more to go?

Edit: 11 PM - Additional 11" on top of the 6" previously cleared = 17" Still light snow... Will see what the daylight brings.

I suspect Spring has arrived here. The weather guys got completely fooled yesterday and a 48 degree supposed to be rainy day turned into falling ice and snow because of upper lever cold temps and our temps dived fast. Fired the stove around noon.

Today it is sixty-two at 7:30 and supposed to stay above fifty and may see seventy in a couple of days. Ready for it. Let the stove and me take a break. Till, like, Thanksgiving.

Amen Bother, I'm with you ! But it hangs in the 30s here day and night for the time being.

That isn't right !!!
 
We had our first above freezing overnight temp last night at +2. Tonight is dropping to -11 and the low's for the week will be around -8. It will slow down the thaw and reduce the flood risk at least :)

I think we are getting close to being almost there.
 
We are suppose to get another storm here in Southern Minnesota. Over six inches predicted for Thursday night and Friday. Its been a long haul, I've only had my pellet stove for 2 and a half weeks but it is getting lots of use and we enjoy it.
