I recently purchased a wood stove used. I cannot seem to find who made the stove even though it has a name and city on the front? The stove says "HOME HEATER" "BENNINGTON, VT" on the door? I have looked and looked but I can find no info on this stove??? I need to get a manual for it so I can follow the manufacturers recommendations(instead of local code). It does have an ENERGY MARKETING GROUP tag on the rear with some readable info but the previous owner seemed to have sanded most of the info of it! It has a model # H-1, a serial # and other misc info....CAN ANYONE HELP ME FIND SOME INFO? I have pics available upon request! Thanks in advance...

Carl......

How bout some photos of the stove itself.
I can see it says maybe: Energy Marketing Company on the top of the tag.

is the info on the tag stamped into the plate or printed?
On old plates that have been stamped if I can't read the engraving I take a sharpie and color in the tag and then wipe off the excess with a rag and it highlights the engravings....
I agree with Hogwildz on the pics...

Sorry but i actually started painting this thing 2 hours ago...the handles and dampers are off the doors!

I agree with GVA. ANother thing to try if its engraved or raised on the tag, is put a pc of paper over it and rub a pencil point side over it.
I do that at work when I can't read a vin#, works well.

That thing looks like a wood furnace to me.

They made an ugly stove that could be fitted with a jacket and used for a furnace - or even fitted with coils and used as a hydronic heater.

Relatively popular in the area around there - back in the late 70's. Hard to imagine they are still making them, but you can try that number - maybe parts are available.

Man you guys work fast. I appreciate all the information...I will be calling them on monday bright and early!!

Before you sink alot of time & energy into that thing, you better see what ya have first.
If its that old, you might want to think again about firing it up. Check it real good for cracks, warpage, etc.

A rectangular barrel stove.

Maybe. The best ribs require a 650 pound firebox and top of the line filing cabinet.

With the add on ductwork adapter you can easily convert your pendaflex smoker into an add-on hot air furnace...Brought to you by REMCO...A Division of the TOMEY Corp"... LMAO!

I just sanded and steel wooled it top to bottom...nothing! Also the tag says date tested 6-13-1999
You sure of that date??? Could it be 6-13-1889??? J/K... But I would question if it were 1989 or even 1979... The style would be a little more to either of those times.

What's the inside of the firebox look like (really has me curious)....???

Does the bottom have a "Shaker grate"???

I'm not to familiar with the "particular stove"...but the configuration has me wondering...

Is it a 'dual fuel' unit (coal and wood)????

Snap some pictures of "inside the firebox"...this one has me wondering...

I like the look of the way it's set up...(5/16" plate construction???) Thing must weigh a ton!

So Fire it up!!! (The digital camera I mean) ;)

NICE SMOKER!!! I finished the restore on my stove today...I also called the number you found the other day and they will be sending the manual today!!! Thanks for working so fast guy I appreciate it alot! heres a pic of my completed stove!!

looks good...
glad we could help...
Do they still make these or parts for them? Or do they just have old records on them, just curious....

She cleaned up real nice, good job ;)

Really??????
It sure does have old school looks.. (it does look good too)
So did they discontinue it or is it still made......
Web you may want to aquire a copy of the manuals for the archives.

Or at least Karson you should add to the title of the thread the stove name to help with future searchers
