So I had a Harman Accentra Pellet Insert installed on Saturday in our fireplace. I am brand new to all of this and as many times as I asked questions when they were here, I still find myself confused and with more questions.

So far the stove is doing a nice job with warming up the house, but I have already burned through 4 bags of pellets. They told me I should only have to clean the ash tray once a week, but it already seems to be full. Just wondering how I can empty it? Do I need to shut the stove off so it can cool? I asked about cleaning it when they were here, but didn't get a great answer.

I have it set to burn in Stove Temperature mode. I had the feed rate set to 4, but tried lowering it today.

Any tips would be appreciated.

Thanks!

Four bags in three days doesn't sound like anything crazy to me. Heck, I go through almost that many in 24 hours when it's super cold outside. In terms of the ash pan, I don't buy the once a week thing. I had an Accentra insert in my last house, and while it's a great stove, the ash pan is TINY! If I waited a week to empty that ash pan, I would have ash EVERYWHERE. I usually emptied it every two days. As far as what mode you're running in, that's all a matter of preference. I only use room temp mode and set the temperature between 70 and 75 degrees and don't really mess with it, beyond that.

I have the same insert. Depending on pellets I'd say I typically dump the ash pan every 3 days. With the best pellets, maybe 4-5 days, but I like to keep it breathing well. I like to run it in stove temp, medium to high, feed rate between 3-4. You'll have to see where things calibrate between cleanings/overnight lows and your house. There are so many factors to consider. Enjoy

I also have an Accentra Insert. I would highly recommend you purchase an ash vac or have some means to vacuum out your stove safely. My ash pan does in fact fill up every three to four days, depending on how high the stove is running and the type of pellets being burned.

As an alternative, you may want to consider running on room temp. This feature is great to use when outside temps flucuate so you are not always adjusting the temp of the stove when running in stove temp.

I have a P35i and have not emptied my pan yet this year. Heating 3000 sq feet at 75 degrees and have only used a ton of Green Supremes as of "today's date"
