I'm thinking its ash but not sure. What ever it is it splits like butter

Thanks. That's both good and bad news. The good news is its good wood and I refuse to leave it. The bad news is its down over a steep hill along a stream. Between one large and small red oak and this large ash tree i'm going to run out of room before I get it all:mad:
 
Basswood all day everyday. Not even an inkling of a doubt in my mind!

I think Ash but a closer view of pic#3 would help.
 
Get the Oak leave this stuff it is BASSWOOD, since you are low on storage! otherwise get it good kindling.

Have to agree with nrford for sure. Bass so leave it if you are tight on space as you can get better wood. You got some already so I'd keep that and make most of it into kindling as it is super for this. Also makes for great carving wood.

Basswood it is. Can't argue with a hardwood lumber inspector of 24 years or Dennis who is the ash expect here. Thanks for the replies
