Nice people there!

Paid for 6 tons and brought home the first. I'll bring home the other 5 over the next couple of weeks.

Damn. I was just there too! Royal just bent me over for $7/bag on Platinums.

Their discounted price on regular Okies for prebuy is $299. Unless all the prices went up, this is no discount.

Going to see what Pellets Direct is doing for Barefoots or what Fuel and Flam pricing is.

The Douglas Firs are $7 a bag.

Yes, the prices went up.

Tim, have you burned any/enough of the DFs to compare them to the Platinums?

Thanks,
- Jeff

I tried a couple of bags but it's difficult to tell if it's the pellets or the warming weather? They certainly seem hotter.

I can confirm the DFs burn hotter. I was able to try both platinums and DFs in the P68 on some of the coldest days in February. The platinums at feed rate 3.5 (my normal setting) got the stove to 450 degrees, and consistently remained there. The DFs burned so hot, I turned the feed rate down to 3 and the stove ran at 550 degrees. They are the hottest pellets I have ever burned, in fact it was uncomfortable to be near the stove when burning these. Oddly enough, the flame from the DFs is very small and not particularly bright - especially compared to the platinums, so it was really interesting to experience the kind of heat they produced.

Thanks for the tech. Since I've been burning the Platinums already, turning the feed rate down and getting more heat for a modest additional cost doesn't sound too bad.

Cheers,
- Jeff
