Burning Hunk
Day to day here it was cold yesterday so small fire all day but today no fire needed. I would say no more after this week .
Who all is done burning til this Fall?

I am done with it for the season. In the forties and raining all day and I am just running the oil filled heaters. I reloaded the shed the last three days and will just save it for the future and pay the electric bill.

I've been done for a couple weeks. Been in the 50's or more most of the last two weeks during the day. A couple of electric heaters at night.
Get that electric water heater and you will want to kill yourself for what you have been missing.

The basement lair is still a chilly 60 degrees with no fire, so I light it up in the afternoon for the evening and night. Can not believe how much wood I burned. A few weeks ago I passed the 7 cord mark. Ugh. Didn't Cheech And Chong have a move "Up In Smoke"? They had a funnier premise.

I just put a bunch more in the shed today. 30s at night 50s during the day. Wife will complain if the house I not 70-72.

I know some on here are cutting into next years wood, but not me. I am done and working on future wood every nice day I can.

still burning for a while yet. Snow on the roof is almost gone and the yard is starting to show a bit of grass in sunny spots. Shoulder season burning for sure though, mostly evenings. Not complaining, the bikes are out, ice fishing is done but lakes still frozen, thinking about radish planting in the garden up against the house south facing. Sat in the sun this weekend with a beer and watched the snow melt.... lovin it!
It's "garbage time" here, as they say in certain sports: we hit the 70s for the very first time today, but it'll be cooler for the rest of the week and still gets quite chilly at night. For the next few weeks I'll be burning the ugly stuff that's been seasoning since last summer: gnarly bits that don't stack well but have nevertheless hung around in odd dry spots over the winter. Sure don't want to look at them again next fall, and I still hate to hear the furnace coming on at night.

Here in Central Ont ( Muskoka ) we are still burning part time, today we are, its cold and raining. We still have about 2 ft of snow on the ground, last Monday the local snowmobile clubs closed the trails do to streams, swamps and lakes are unsafe. On the flip side on this past Sunday we meet fellow motorcycle friends for lunch in Markham 70 miles south of us and 10 of them rode there m/cs to lunch.

I'm finished. I built the last fire 2 weeks ago and got the water tanks up as warm as I dared and let the fire die. Mixed the hot water in with the heat pump and get it to last about a week. Now that I'm "done" though, I'm really debating burning some ash I have that's probably dry enough. All winter I was warm and cozy in the house keeping the thermostat at 69°, but I'm freezing with just the heat pump at 72°!

uglies are long gone, i knew them well. using my pellet cages almost exlusively with the odd split. have 3 bags left. morning/early evening only.
Well I have lied. The cold windy day yesterday got the better of the wife and I last night. We had to fire up the olé Buck one more time.

I use nat gas more in these temps. Not burning every day, but I have more punky stuff, uglies & chunks around and the forecast is all over the map, so there will be more fires yet.

Built a fire yesterday as it was cold and rainy, that was my first in a week. I think I'll need an occasional small fire to take the chill off the house this month since I don't use any other heat. The feel of the weather and the long-term forecast lead me to believe I won't be burning at all before too long.
39 out and wet. So, yes, burning. Going down well below freezing tonight. Sunday forecast is for mixed precip. Still a good amount of snow on the ground.
I have burned until June 9th 2 years ago. It isn't worth it though. It takes half a load to get the boiler and water good and hot. I think I would use a dollar a day to heat my house with these temps.
We've warmed up. Last night did not get below 50F. The heat pump can handle the load better than I can burning sticks.
