Hello,
Did any PH owners buy your stove on sale at the end of the season? I was told theyd be on clearance soon, but I saw they only dropped $100 from the price they were all winter. We want to upgrade from the Oslo, but with our first kid on the way I dont want to waste money if the price will drop again. This $100 off is good thru May 2, Im wondering if it will drop again then. I was also told they sometimes have free shipping during sales, but thats not being offered now either. Anyone have any info on this topic? Thanks in advance.

I got an email a couple days ago saying $500 off of the PH if bought by May 2. Just looked and confirmed it. Calling it their inventory clearance sale to make room for the Ideal Steel.

That's misleading though. They have a list price for the PH, but all year long it was $400 off that list price. For their "clear-out sale" it is only $100 off the price it was all year. So although they say $500 off, in reality it's $100 off, which isnt really a clear out sale IMO.

I don't think anyone has ever paid "full price" for a WS. They're always "on sale". I would be shocked if the price went up after May 2. We are entering summer, after all. If it were me, I would probably hold off and see what the next sale is. Just my opinion. I have no inside info.

I don't think thats correct, I've been looking at prices the last few months since I was thinking of getting one and it was more than $100 higher most of that time.

Nope, Im positive. They've been priced at $3195 all winter, which is $400 off their "list price" of $3595. They are now $3095 for their "clear ot sale." Thats $100 cheaper than they were all year. Ive been on their site religiously.

Woodstock seems to have a perpetual sale going on, but in general over the past several years their stoves have been creeping up in price like a lot of the rest of the market.

When we bought out stove (in March) it was, of course, during a sale. We watched the price then through the summer and fall and indeed, we got the best price with that sale in March of that year (2007). For what it is worth, I do not think you will find the price to go lower. However, I've also been known to be wrong a lot too. lol. If it were me looking to buy that stove, I'd grab it before May. Good luck.

Also, your chances of getting a refurbished would be about the same as buying a lottery ticket. They just do not get many and most times have lists of folks wanting one so even if you were on a list, it could be a very long wait.

In addition, buy new and you get that 6 month money-back guarantee. Great peace of mind.

Yup, Dennis has that right, refurbs are not a sure thing. Fortunately I locked in on a Palladian when I had the chance this year.

Good for you Tony. We'll be waiting for pictures!

At this rate I will have owned each of Woodstocks stoves pretty soon. At least the old models.

The joke around here is we use the old cardboard box the stove comes in to hold recycled paper. By the time the box wears out it's time for a new stove!

Buy the stove. Woodstock is a great company that puts out great products and they stand behind those products. Quibbling about price for a quality product just seems... OK, I'll say it... dumb. "Perpetual sale" or not, it's a great stove. Jump on it!

I was kind of thinking the same thing but did not post. Once you speak with these guys you will understand.

Well if their stove prices go down, I won't be upset. I pre-ordered mine, and if the price goes down a little more, I just don't care at this point. It is the stove I want and I want it here in time to get the hearth modified and stove installed well ahead of burning season. If I lose a hundred bucks for that peace of mind, then it was worth it.

You should consider a refurb again. I opted for a refurb PH and could not even tell it was used. Very happy with it.

Yeah, but finding a refurb is almost as unlikely as a bigfoot sighting.......

I would have no qualms whatsoever about buying a "refurb." from Woodstock; this belief is based on the fact that every single time we've had a question/needed help since we bought our first stove in 1991 they've been ON IT and the question was answered. However, I think the odds of finding a PH would be pretty slim because it's such a new model and so many buyers were "champing at the bit" for a bigger stove. Odds are there are more refurbished Fireviews, Palladians, and Keystones.

Woodstock is a great company (business the way it ought to be). They want to sell stoves, they also care very much about standing behind a great product and making sure you are able to operate your stove to maximum efficiency. In over 20yrs. I've never seen them fail to "deliver the goods".

Buy the damn stove, willya?

And on that cheerful note...
