I have 50 rick's split and stacked. This year we used 10 rick's, so I am 5 years to the good.

I have 2 different tree services that drop wood when they are on my side of town. Plus I scrounge all the time. We live on 10 acres so we have plenty of room.

Should I tell the tree services to stop for awhile and slow down the scrounging. Or keep building the pile?

If you have the room, keep stacking it up.

But eventually there does come a point where you'll have enough. But if you enjoy splitting keep on going

How much is a Rick exactly?

I believe a rick and a face cord are one and the same.

So you have about 5 years ahead and that is great! From this point on, I would take but only the best of the best would do. This is a great time to be picky about what you get and it will pay dividends.

Keep going, you could always sell some.....

Keep going. It's like money in the bank.

There is a story in the bible where a man saved 5 yrs worth of grain, he bragged about it and that night his life was called for. In all honesty though, I think it will start getting a bit soft after 5 yrs even if its covered. I would sell some if you could to help pay for saw, repairs and wood splitters.

Keep going. Take Dennis' crown. ;lol

+1 to that......keep collecting, but be pickier about species.

Pace the inbound at your rate of consumption. It's ok to take a year off. I burn about as much as you do and get it from tree services also. The way I look at is I have all the wood I can ever burn, it just hasn't all been cut or delivered yet.

Write's post above was a good suggestion. Take what you have room for (of course) and share the wealth with your family and friends in need.
Also, if you have a weather proof shed (inside storage with good dry air circulation) the wood will last for years.

I'd be afraid of loosing my source. Plus you never know when health problems may pop up to hinder your wood processing. Just be happy you don't have to scrounge any more.

Even if you don't have a weather proof shed, it will last for many, many years. 10 years is not a problem even without a shed so long as it is off the ground and top covered.

If my sweet wife (RIP) was still here, she would tell you that a Rick is pretty much meaningless, and never to be taken seriously. Rick
