Tried to hold off on a fire last night and just let the furnace run. When the house hit 68 I decided that wasn't going to work and threw a few splits in the stove. The nice thing about using super cedars cold starts are a piece of cake.

Did you get stormed on last night?

My stove is currently cold. First time since we were gone for a week in December. Won't be cold for long.

They tore up the area around us, the worst of it missed us. Did they do any damage around you?

Had some power out around here, but not me

Pretty quiet around here, I think. I was gone Saturday, but I didn't here about anything. It was all north of here.

Fire is laid, just waiting for a match.

I shoveled out the ashes and pulled out the flame shield. It had a bunch of fly ash on it, and some of the holes were at least 50% plugged, but the cat still looked surprisingly clean

Looks like I'll be relighting the stove for Tuesday night, forecast is rain changing to snow, light accumulation possible, low 27, gusty winds from the west shifting to the north west.

Still burning. Woke up to winter again this morning.

Got the Dutchwest back in after replacing the gaskets, and will be firing for the next few days. Tonight and tomorrow night around freezing! _g

This will most likely be my last week burning. Only lit 5 fires this month but Tuesday though Thursday lows of 37* 33* 36*. I can't wait!!!

I am done, or I want to be done, but I bet the Wifey will want a few more. I am almost done with the "Great firewood wall of China" for next years burn season along the back fenceline. :)

And I retract my last statement... It was 80 on Saturday, and this morning, it was snow flurries and 33. Had to start the stove. Brrrr...

Warm yesterday, raining now and getting chilly so I put the fire on, supposed to snow tomorrow.

Got sunburned Saturday on a fantastic spring day, 79::F degrees, and free bourbon and bluegrass at Maker's Mark.. going to be below 40::F for a high tomorrow, and lows below or just at freezing for the next 3 nights.. stove is spotless too.. o_O

We have a fire going this morning, it's 19 degrees with 6 " fresh snow ( on top of 3-4 ft of old snow) here at 9100 ft in the Rockies. Soapstone temp is 550, quite cozy. We'll be burning for at least another 5-6 weeks. Some cool and rainy summers we will have fires on July nights when it gets below about 45.

I stop burning when the temps get above 40::F with plenty of sun, yesterday I lit the fire again and according to the forecast I will have to burn most of this week.

Thought I was done, but apparently not after seeing this week's lows, and the lil woman is flying in, and she will want fire.

blizzard-like outside right now - pretty discouraging.

This is what I think of every time we get major snow falls in April.

Sung to April Showers....
Shovel...Shovel...Shovel... to the April Blizzards, when is this snow ever going to end...

Ow! my back... Ow! my back....

Supposed to get around 20 tomorrow night with a dusting of snow. I really wish it would stop already.

I am done for this winter. Now it is time to get out the Stihl and Monster Maul. Plus, I am going to build an enclosed woodshed that will be a solar powered firewood drying kiln.
