Firt off... 3 years ago I bought a used snowmobile. My main goal in doing so was to be able to go , with my Dad, to his hunting cabin, just to get there in the off season to relax, enjoy the paradise like geograhical situation of the cabin and spend good quality time with my old man. But, but !!! Time goes by very fast and I have a crazy job, 3 kids under five...... So I haven't had the chance to take my dad to the cabin untill last thursday, and I put less than 800 km on my snowmobile over 3 seasons.

Last tuesday I just got home with some decent time off after a 13 months crazy assignement. Wenesday, a good friend called and said : Have you look at the weather forecast ? It´s supposed to be below freezing for the 2 next morning, lets hit the trail to your dads cabin!!

I said SURE !! Called dad and he was in. Se we left home at 4:30 am on thursday moring and got the the cabin by 8:30 !! It was awesome! I could go on and on..... We were lucky that we had that much snow this winter, there was still 2 to 4 feet on snow on the ground and the few creek down the gully were still frozen ! So it was a somwhat easy ride . The cabin is only accessible by snowmobile or with a canoe by the river, or hiking, there is no road nor ATV trails to get there. My dad have a 24 footer cedar canoe ( Salmon fishing type) that he used to get there in the fall, going upstream the river with it. And think we beat the cabin record: getting there on a sled end of april !!

It´s a small cabin, but it´s really clean and get all the amenties in it. But view off the river from the inside is just amazing !

Here's a few picture:

+1. Enjoy it while you can.

(We won't discuss the single wall pipe going through the wall here, but I hope the wall is only metal.)

Yes that part of the wall is metal only, and this single wall pipe is a reclaimed piece of stainless from a paper mill, its approx 1/4 thick.

Keep it safe and have a great time. Your dad is an impressive fellow to have paddled upstream to that location.

Now he's got a 9.9 johnson. But there is time when the river is so low they can't use the motor anyway. It would be very very hard to paddle the River upstream, they "pole" the canoe when the river is too low. When they build the cabin over 35 years ago, they " poled" over 10 trips of building supply on that 15 miles stretch !!! But they are getting smarter and they are retired now so if they need something big and heavy to get there, they will wait untill the river is at a flow level high enough that they now they'll be able to get the whole trip the with outboard !

Enjoy the time with your Mom & Dad - almost time to get that five year old started on trips to the cabin with Dad and Gramps:)
