Splitting Maul-Wilton BASH

I was wondering whether anyone had tried or owns one of these and what there thoughts are on them.

I am insterested in a 8lb 36" as I have a Fiskars also and this will be for those tough/ large rounds and driving wedges ( I cut alot of 3' plus diameter trees). I recently broke my 2nd fiberglass Truper and while I know I abused the first one (learning), the second had its head come loose (down the shaft, not off the end like when you have over-struck to many times). So, I am looking for a better quality splitting maul. I am curious whether these hold up as claimed and whether the steel rods add heft that becomes problematic. I am not muscle bound but I can swing a 8# fiberglass maul for a couple hours if the splitting isn't too crazy hard.

The cheapest I have found it for sale (including shipping) is at Zoro Tools for $105 with no shipping charge.

If it really was unbreakable I would buy one as I would rather avoid spending $25 every year on the Truper, although I am apprehensive about the head profile. $105 seems a little much for a maul that I would be buying online with no testimonies. Unfortunately locally I have only seen cheap-o mauls for sale. The two closest Stihl dealers don't even carry the PA80 mentioned above. Then again everyone and their dog seems to have a splitter so I do not think there is much of a market for mauls. I have access to a splitter, but for several reasons I would rather split by hand.

In the original post I specified a 8lb. Are you recommending a 6lb maul over an 8lb?

The six is easier to swing but sometimes you need the additional arse of the eight. I've got both, and the 4-pounder with the built in wedge, and a Fiskars. And of course a Monster Maul.

I know, I am unsure what the poster I quoted was trying to get at. I thought perhaps he was trolling and I was trying to call him out on it. Unless I am mistaken the X27 is around 6#'s, so again I'm not sure what the quoted poster was getting at.

Thank you, I never thought to look for a local dealer. It turns out Fastenal is a dealer for Wilton tools. I would have never thought to look there as I knew them as, well, a fastener supply company. I will be stopping the next time I am in town. Hopefully they will have one in stock.
