These are family photos. Sixteen cords in total. Mostly red oak with a little black cherry and maple. Forty percent has been split for fourteen months and the remainder just two months. The european is seven feet across by four feet tall. All wood is bucked to 19 inches which fits the boiler well and also fits the lil electric respliiter. Using four-eight foot timbers per row and stacking a heavy five feet high makes for one cord per row. Notice the mower and cart friendly lanes. FW85.JPG Fw86.jpg FW88.JPG

Thatsallota wood. Nice job on the stacking. It looks like you have 98% clean straight splits. My stacks never look that good, cuz I get 98% crooked, dog leg looking stuff.;lol

Yeah those are pretty straight splits for the most part. Beleive this tho, there are a fair share of boomerangs and delta wings in there too.

Looks great! How long will that last ya "right there?"

Those stacks should heat for 4 average winters or maybe 3 like we just experienced. Heats the shop where the boiler is located and the house but not the dhw yet.

Wow, that is pretty, and I am very jealous

So beautiful...almost brought a tear to my eye.

It's beautiful!

All of those stacks and then you have to put it over the top and show off with the HH! ;)

Those have got to be the most perfect stacks I have seen posted since I've been a member. Awesome, just awesome.

Yeah. I saw it was gunna make an odd arraignment however it stacked so thought to try that. Went pretty good as I began with a single crib center and then eyeballed for a circle. Don't know how high it would be stable tho.

Thank you for the compliment. Was following what a member named Backwoods does. At first I had some pallet pieces and cedar trees from out back for stringers. When I saw Menard's advertised landscape timbers for 97 cents, it was a no brainer. Buy once and use till death, mine or thiers.

What is a European? the proportions of those rectangles?
One row of 19" splits makes a cord?

The European is the round stack. I had seen em when in the Netherlands and then saw them discussed in here too.

One row 16' long x 5'-2" high x 19" bucked = 130 cubic feet

That was a lot of work right there. I hope you are correct that it is enough for 4 years. Now you can coast! Sweet for sure!

Yeah it is a lot of work. It actually was a good winter to buck and split though, which I did in February and March. Fingers are crossed for 4 winters but we all know it's all about what nature gives us. Coast sounds really good. Plans are for January of 16 for another load.

Thanks for your contributions here. I like your stacking theory.

Yes, me too, and our ground is anything but level.
