Newbie Stove user here, inherited a quadra fire 2006 model with the house i bought. Worked fine for a week and then wouldn't light on start up. So i cleaned the burn pot and all the ash out and it drops pellets and lights but will not stay lit.

The pellets light and nothing drops after and the pellets don't burn up and it just smokes up the basement fairly bad. Any thoughts?

Thanks in advance.

Sounds like a problem with your exhaust. Perhaps the vent is clogged or the exhaust blower failed?

Bench test your combustion motor as well. Take it out of the stove and connect it to 110v directly. Carefully, 110 can kill, and see if the motor goes when you power it out of the stove.

I would suggest reading the sticky at the top of this page about installation, and troubleshooting a pellet stove. Lots of great info there. Sounds like maybe the ash bin door didn't get closed correctly, or maybe the pot slide door isn't closing all the way. They can get built up with crude and be hard to close without a good cleaning. Stick your head in the stove and make sure it's closed all the way. As has been mentioned the exhaust pathway needs to be cleaned on a regular basis.
