Mimosa?

All of the Mimosa trees on my and my neighbors property are all diseased and standing dead.... I am removing them and decided to buck them..... free BTU... stuff splits like a dream and looks like oak in its grain texture (not color though)

Anyone know anything about it? I thought it was worth a shot and I can try it out next year in the shoulder season....
 
I am actually very curious to see how they burn. Here in our area of Virginia they are all sick and dead.

I kinda want to get a bunchbof it. I say that because what if it burns well and I could have had more. On the other jand if it burns like junk then all that effort would be for nothing.
 
I c/s/s about a cord from one large tree this spring. I can tell you for sure in about five years, but it seems pretty middle of the road.
 
Just looked up some specs. In terms of density (and thus BTU's) and initial moisture content, it's very similar to Mulberry.
 
I have burned some very dry and very light Mimosa in the past. It burns okay that I remember. More like dry silver maple though.
