The squirrel cage room blower was full of sawdust, so I pulled it out and saw a mound of sawdust! Maybe that is why there was sawdust all over the carpet?

Looks like a bad Nylatron Auger Bearing? The auger does wobble around in the bearing plate hole.

Has anyone seen this?.

I have the same Motor, when I see sawdust like that my auger bushing needs replacing

Did you replace the bushing?
Was the one in there brass or nylatron?

Almost any top feed stove will "dust" out back when bushings get loose. Is why owners manuals say to clean back there.Austros used bronze bushings, top one used to squeek/moan when running on hi temps, replacement ones have been switched to sintered iron. But they will probably change again!

That is why I have 2 bottom feeders for my main heaters now. After my first long winter they were just trouble free. Not bad for 10 y/o and 12 y/o stoves! I am currently rebuilding an Envirofire EF-3 bay view. I found an upgraded nylatron bottom auger bearing to replace the original brass bearing! That should make it run a little smoother.

Nylatron will actually wear the steel.Used to be used in kingpins in ford trucks, could replace the pins and use the bushings over. When used in higher speed applications the shafts are usually stainless.Should last almost forever in an auger, unless heat gets to it.

The stove in the pic is about 15 years old with a stainless steel auger, Frankly this is the only Whitfield I have seen with this problem so the SS Auger and Nylatron bearing is a great combination for a pellet stove?

High quality.
