NYS Department of Ag & Markets maintains a list of certified foresters and loggers. It is extensive and each entry lists all woodland products each company deals in with contact information. A large proportion of them sell firewood. Im guess Massachusetts follows some similar practice. Also State and private foresters can contact you with professional loggers. And anyone involved in clearing large tracts of land.

I have 2 resources one is a land clearing company the other is Tree Services. I get 2 different kinds of trees from each. From the Tree Service i typically get larger logs around 20" diameter or larger. Land clearing companies I get smaller 12" - 20" diameter trees. I had to email and call 25 companies to get one that would reply back.

Thank you both for the info. Tsquini, would tou be wulling to share those resources? Applesister, I will do some research and see what I come up with...

Even in Shrewsbury, you should be able to find a logger that will deliver log-length. Plenty of forestry activity in the vicinity of Wachusett Res & vicinity. The state has a list of licensed timber harvesters, but that is exhaustive and probably tedious to make calls until you get someone who will sell wood. I'd recommend calling the Wachusett Reservoir foresters to see what loggers they have worked with on the watershed lands - that should be a short enough list to tackle.

Try these guys. I know some people in the area that buy grapple loads from them. They are in Ashland. http://www.stumpystreeinc.com/

Good Luck,

Thank you Bruce and Pete. I bought an Ariens splitter last year and what a difference that has made over my electric splitter. I am thinking another few more cords and it will have paid for itself...
