Looks to be hardwood from the pics and the stump in front of the pile. I'd say there will be a scramble from alot of folks on that wood with the address in the ad. I wonder why the owners didn't sell it, it's worth a few bucks.

I just left the area, and found the listing when I got home (Bethel)....not a far drive back (14 miles), but I've got the Honey- Do list this weekend that I cannot step away from

Do you CT guys ever get involved with the State firewood lottery? If the cutting areas are close to you it's a lot easier than refreshing CL everyday.

I did. My area only gives 8 permits. And it has a large population of burners. I didn't get one.
Yeah, it is hit or miss based upon the number of burners in your area. Most people who get the permits expect the wood to be bucked to length and stacked for them and are disappointed when the have to work to get it.

I got a permit one year. The trees they marked out were 10" max most 8" and mostly ash and beech, with a few oaks. Got my 2 cords but wasn't really worth the effort.
Part of the Honey-Do list is cut up and move a BIG Oak log sitting at the end of the drive for the last 8 months.....so, no more wood till this is gone

Whats left is the two logs....the big one is now down to 10 feet long and 42 inches across at the endI'll come take it off your hands if you need.
Won the CT Firewood lotto for 2 years in a row in 2011/2012. It's a lot more work than CL, but was good to supplement scrounging. Also fun to go in the woods for a couple days to drop trees.
If you get friendly with the State Arborist on the site and he wants to drop more trees, I've seen people leave with much more than 2 cords. But like the lottery itself, it's very much a hit or miss opportunity.
