My Lopi Freedom is finally installed! I had the stove in my living room for a few weeks but 2 days ago the chimney sweep hooked it all up. To bad its 75 plus degrees every day and I doubt my first fire any time soon. I will have the blower on there by fall as well. I sure hope it puts out some heat in the flush configuration.

I think insulation the fire box on an interior chimney is a waste of effort any heat given up to the masonry will end up back in the house anyway. But absolutely should have insulated blockoff plate and an insulated liner. On an exterior chimney some insulation in the fire box can help but i would not pack it full stoves are meant to have airspace around them. It wont hurt to insulate an interior fp but i just don't see that it gives allot of benefit in my opinion.

Heat will radiate off the glass nicely.
In installs such as this a big glass is always beneficial imo.

I agree that it will give you more heat off the stove quickly but i would prefer the slower heat given off from heating that mass of masonry. Like i said nothing wrong with it but i have never thought it was worth it. But that is just my opinion It would be beneficial if you are not going to burn constantly like just a fire in the evenings or on weekends.

If the heat come down, you might want to do the break-in fires prior to going all out. New stoves tend to give off odors and will allow paint to cure. Remember to open windows to air out the smell. Congrats on the install. Let me know how you like the stove.

I had the freedom with the flush kit for a while.
It will make some incredible heat! Even if you don't have a block off plate it will do amazing, assuming its blocked at the top. Don't feel like you have to tear it all part and do a plate to get good results. But you'll need that blower!

I also like that new ashlip that Travis started using. It's much nicer than the previous model that had the clamped on trim piece around the ashlip. It was a big ash catcher.

I know with my liberty when its in full blown secondary burn mode the heat that is coming from the glass is insane.

Since it has the flush kit, it'll need to go on the face of the stove. In one of the upper corners.

Or get an IR thermometer; that is what I am using. Also helpful in other places of the house.

I have a flush insert myself and I am using IR I try to get a measurement on the body of the stove on top of the door between frame and the grill. My stove (cape cod) looks almost like yours wonder what the differences are. When it reaches about 400 degrees I start to shut the air. Usually by the time I am completly shut or almost shut I will see 450 degrees once I had 500. From that point I look what is happening inside the box and I adjust air accordingly.

You might want to have a few small fires now while it is warmer out. You can break it in and burn off all the oils. It will stink up the house. At least now you can do it with the doors and windows open.

I had two fires so far and only a little bit of stink but not that bad. Maybe I didn't get it hot enough? I only let it get to 400/450. I did notice that the bypass dampener gets a little stiff when the stove is hot but other than that the stove is nice! My blower didn't come with the two screws for install so I have to buy some at the local hardware store since its much closer than the dealer. Any idea what size or thread these are???

The screws should be in the stove already. They are a 3/8" bolts.
