Purchased a used freestanding Accentra that needed an auger. Took everything apart, cleaned, replaced gaskets and purchased new auger. Everything seems to work fine in test mode. Purchased a bag of pellets from the local Tractor Supply. Barely filled the bottom hopper. Followed instructions to run the unit. Almost immediately the auger seemed to jam. Took it all apart. Vacuumed all pellets out of the auger chamber. reinstalled and tried again, same thing. The auger jammed. Unplugged it right away. I'm at a loss right now. Suggestions.

Do you have a manual if not get one

Feed trouble shooting

Stove does not Feed

1. No fuel in hopper.
2. Firebox draft may be too low for sensing switch in feeder
circuit to operate. Check for closed doors, loose or
missing gasket on doors or hopper lid.
3. Hopper lid must contact the lid position switch.
4. Feed motor will not run until the ESP control senses a
certain temperature. Maybe you did not put enough fuel
or starting gel in the burn pot before manually lighting the
fire.
5. Restriction in the hopper or feeder. Remove all fuel and
examine. Clear the obstruction.
6. Feed motor has failed.

The thing runs fine in test mode with no pellets in the hopper. But once pellets are present, it becomes jammed. Search me.

Hello

Sounds like a bad vacuum switch to me. You can try jumping it out and see if the stove runs.

If it still does not work, then it is a worn chain drive.

When I first got it I jumped the vacuum switch to isolate the issue. This does not appear to be a switch issue. Everything works in test mode. I cannot rotate the auger by hand once the chain is removed if pellets have gone through the system. I am new to pellet stoves. Been a log burner for years. But I do rebuild cars, homes and can usually find my way out of mechanical issues. This has escaped me so far.

That is strange, it should not be that hard.
If you take the auger motor off, then you should be able to turn the auger by hand. If not it is jammed.
I have heard that if there are burrs on the slide plate, then that can cause your problem.
So take off the fines cover and pull out the slide plate and check it out! You should bail out the pellets first.

I'll check that tomorrow after work, Thanks! The auger was wire brushed and the tube cleaned. I've done this a few times, shouldn't take long.

One question. These are pellets from Tractor Supply. Could pellet type be the issue?

Harman can burn almost anything, unless they are mushy and full of moisture!

First you said you replaced the auger, then said you wire brushed it,so I will assume you replaced the auger motor? If the auger is old, while you have it out push shaft into the bearings with pressure, same as pellets loading against it.Should be free and very smooth.I know you cleaned the tunnel/tube but run your fingers through it,should be no stickyness.Wire brushing just drives gunk into th epores, you may have to chemically clean. As it is an old chain setup the slider does not come into play for this problem but a jammed auger can ruin the box(from motor bending the unit) causing the slider to not work properly. There are updates for that stove that can reduce gunk in the auger tube, fines box and hopper as they were known for these problems, all this is listed in threads.

Found the problem, very simple and stupid. The auger motor purchased rotates in wrong direction. Got home today, removed chain and rotated the opposite way. Shall exchange for correct one. Thanks for help!!
